New British Issues

November 29, 2003 | Other
Two new issues of British magazines arrived at our headquarters today.

Appropriately Elvis Today was one of them. The magazine sized down to A5. Behind the great cover in the editorial Todd Slaughter mentions that is because ET will be able to send out extra mailings now, next to the 4 quarterly issues. By readers' request the magazine is focussing on pictures more and more. This issue has stills or promotional shots from his movies.

The Man And His Music may have a more sober front, but be assured you will spend much more time reading this one. Highlight of this issue is without any doubt the interview the editor, Trevor Cajiao, had with Dolores Hart. Mother Dolores - a nun today - costarred with Elvis in Loving You and King Creole. Two good book reviews are worth reading too, as are the usual Compact Disc round-up and smaller articles.

Just recieved both of these mags recently. The Man And His Music superb mag, excellent content with plenty of interesting reading. Top notch. Elvis Today, excellent cover and that's it. The old larger style cover I liked better, made it stand out a bit. Were now back to the A5 size, and this mag is now just another version of the British fan club mag. Content is very poor, and check out the prices of the stuff they sell. Rip off springs to mind. It works out at £5 a copy, thats about £4 to much. The only reason I can think we pay £20 a year for four mags is because of the Free Cd you get when you subscribe. Well my subs are due now, and I'm afraid I will not be renewing. It's just not worth it.

Another great issue of The Man And His Music. The interview with Dolores Hart is very interesting. This is a mag you`ll want to read more than once. I agree with the comments above about Elvis Today. Its just a glossy scrapbook which took 10 secs to flick thru. Check out not only the prices, but what they are selling. 5 volumes yes 5! of Having Fun with Elvis on Stage. They describe them as laugh a minite and a treasure to own. All yours for the best part of £50! Who could possibly want this rubbish? These releases are an insult to Elvis name, yet they are sold by his own fan club. The new book Inside Loving You is priced at £34 including p+p, The Man and his Music are selling it at £24.99! Rip off certainly does spring to mind. 5 stars to The Man and his Music for a top magazine and treating Elvis fans with respect.
