Not sure if the few unreleased outtakes are worth it. Had the original album too many times now (LP, later on the first CD release, then the first extended version on CD, then the "complete" '68 special box, and on the Complete EP Masters box) , also the stereo master of "If I Can Dream".

Looking forward to this one. Didn't buy "Let Yourself Go" back in the day. So disc 2 will be knew to me.

I was wondering when this would be released and what it would hold. Not essential as it could have been after the release of the box set. It would have been better to have It Hurts Me back in at least or if the song list of the Directors cut was used just to make it ... special

Been buying the 68 TV Special stuff since, well 1968 and I have it all and I have enough of it. Its not something I play much on CD anyway. When I am in the mood for it, I just take out the deluxe DVD box and watch what I want of it. So, passing on this.

I have all I want of this 1968 era; I'll pass.

~ I'm undecided about buying this FTD because I already have most of the material. It's too bad they didn't include any of the soundstage takes of "If I Can Dream" recorded by Elvis dressed in the white suit on June 30, 1968. Those stage performances were stronger vocally than what he recorded in the studio one week earlier on June 23, 1968.

Ernst has yet not realized that many people are no longer willing to pay high price for a handful of unreleased takes like they did in the "Legendary Performer" times. CD 1 has nothing new and CD 2 has 9 out of 30 tracks that seem to be new .. at least in parts. What kind of collector's release is this? His increasing duplicating from other FTDs is a slap in the face for every loyal FTD customer.

Well said boxcar. I would consider this as a legacy-label tracklisting but not as a collector's FTD CD. And to be honest I've had Legacy CDs I was more excited about. Old stuff we already have for decades numerous times, mixed with mostly available outtakes from other CDs and even FTDs and a handful of unreleased moments. We're back in "milking the fans" times. How much money shall a collector spend for something like this? I'll save my bucks.

Boxcar, I couldn't agree with you more! You said it perfectly. Enough of duplicating what was already released on earlier FTDs. I'm not buying this one.

It's for people, like me, who want ALL classic albums in 7" and are happy to pay for them. Moaning about duplication with Elvis releases after all these years - it's all duplication in one form or another.

I have to say that I will buy EP '68 every time they release it...just LOVE it!!

Very logical points, VivaLasDavies.

I also agree but Aloha From Hawaii has yet to be released by FTD and if we're talking about duplication just how different will it be to the recent Legacy release. Now I'd expect it to be unedited unlike the Legacy CD which was but looking at this 68 special I really don't think it will be.

Hello everyone, i have a question for you. I have all the RCA/Sony official NBC TV special releases (Tiger Man, Memories the 68 comeback Special & The Complete 68 Comeback Special 4 CD Box) and also the import from Venus: Singer presents Elvis. It looks like that CD 2 on the FTD release is almost the same (or at least mostly) as the Venus release. Is there still material on the FTD release i don't have? Thank you for your response.
