The "Girl Happy" soundtrack was first released on the Follow That Dream Collectors label in 2003. The 2009 re-issue - released with the "Good Times" album" - differs from the original release:
- FTD was able to use a better quality mater Tape of the Album.
- The first version of this CD contained take 4 (Latin Version) of "You'll Be Gone", the 2009 edition contains take 3.
- The disc comes with a New label with the tracklisting on the CD.
- The speed of the tape was not corrected, it is still running too fast according to the update we found.
- The cover received minimal changes, just a copyright notice and the addition of the Sony label.
Take 3 of You`ll Be Gone is the master...this means they released take 4 inadvertendly on the first issue..?
So who cares ? Hope we'll soon get the remaining "missing" other FTD releases of the movies;
especially KCreole outtakes ! When will FTD issue a newsletter announcing the 2010 year FTD releases ?? Long overdue boys !
Oh goody! They changed one track, guess I'll have to buy this again? What a drag! I guess they think this is clever marketing.
I think "Girl Happy" was the 23rd release on the FTD label, but the very first release with the larger 7 inch packaging, so there can really be no harm in updating it with better sound. We don't have to buy it if we don't want to, but it's good to have the option! I must admit I thought only "Girl Happy" was speeded up, not the entire album? Nice to have a different earlier label too!
The blurb says that a better master of the ALBUM was used on this re-release, but everybody seems to think it was only the title track. Can somebody please clarify. I might re-buy it for the whole original LP but not for just one track.
This was the first Presley soundtrack on vinyl that I purchased and returned to the record store I bought it at telling them a white lie that it was flawed and I really didn't want to chance getting another reject. To be honest, the only reject was the actual album itself. Horrible songs and really crappy sound. This is when my Elvis Presley record buying really tapered off to almost a complete stop. I don't think I bought another Elvis record until 1972 when Burning Love came out on 45 RPM vinyl; and then it was only after purchasing the 1970's boxed set that I revisited his 1970 output. Too bad.
