Mood Swings

June 10, 2013 | Music

The third release from Rock Legends is '' Mood Swings '' featuring the infamous closing show recorded from the soundboard in Las Vegas, NV on September 2, 1974. The sound quality is a major improvement over the first issue and will contain too the first song performed by Voice titled '' I Couldn't Live Without You '' that was missing on the original. We didn't want the show to start with dialogue instead of music we have spliced in a version of '' C.C. Rider '' recorded less than a month after this one.

Elvis' mood swings were legendary during this period of time, and perhaps a bit over the edge on this one. The sound improvement makes it more pleasant as a muffled sound always make a recording sounding less than it was in reality. It will never be his best concert but definitely one of his best representation. As a bonus the second CD features the complete August 20, 1973 M.S., a totally different mood and one of the best ever audience recordings released, and superior to many soundboard recordings.

Great release for "new" generation fans who don't have this already from Fort Baxter. The first song on CD 1 C.C. Rider is a strange choice because the sound is so much different than the Vegas show. Will an unreleased song of I Couldn't Live Without You by voice sell this CD? In my opinon the 1st CD of A Profile (that is the bonus on this cd) sounds good to me. Again, nice CD if you don't have these two shows already in your collection (I'll stick with the FB releases)

wow - this REALLY a bad year fpr Elvis bootlegs...everything is a rerelease or an audience recording...absolutely nothing of substance released so far this year...

Pass....released to death already..

Agreed. This is a stupid and unnecassary re-re-re-release. The infamous Las Vegas Sept. 2 1974 Closing Show is already out on a number of bootlegs. And the bonus August 20, 1973 Midningt Show has as well been released before, first on the great Fort Baxter Box "A Profile. The King On Stage Vol.1", and then on the German "Rockin' The Blue Board" CD. Why on earth can't the Rock Legend label come up with something new instead the way Touchdown, Straight Arrow and some of the other bootlegers do? They should put up, or shut up. Lazy bastards...

I can't remember when was the last time a bootlegger released something new. It's been a long time, right? Maybe they do not have anything new to release. It's nice to consider new collectors and their needs, so good for whomever doesn't own this already and feels the need to buy it. For the rest of us, this is a re-boot and a spliced concert. The wallet stays closed.

Yep, these re-releases give me Mood Swings as well...
