Here are the salesfigures for last week's UK singles sales according to Music Week.

Elvis Presley has had a new entry in the Top Three for each of the last 11 weeks but although his latest reissue "Return To Sender" sold 27,191 copies - easily beating the average first week sale of its predecessors - it has to settle for a number five debut. Moreover, qualifying for the Top 10 this week required 16% more sales than a week ago, while Top 75 entry was 14% tougher and Top 200 entry required 48% more sales.

1. Tony Christie 261,031
2. Mario 54,913
3. McFly 39,336
4. 50 Cent 34,746
5. Elvis Presley 27,191

In the Netherlands "Return To Sender" has entered the Top 100 singles chart at #22 this week. On the Dutch Mega Top 100 chart "Return To Sender" is a new entry at #50

I am still puzzled by the lack of any promotion or media coverage of this achievement - thirteen successive top five singles in thirteen weeks! I am surprised that EPE does not give away video clips for free to ITV and BBC (I know they have some sort of dispute); after all, why deny the real thing to a whole generation of kids brought up on pap?

If Tony Christie carries on selling like he's doing at the moment, his sales tally will eclipse all of Elvis' recent chart entries, and then we'll end up with the usual negative press reactions of "Elvis releases 18 singles and is beaten in overall sales for the year by one release"...

emjel, no doubt there will be negative comments, however as i`ve previously commented, there won`t be anyone topping Elvis` figures with NON-charity releases! TCB.

scsa, Elvis is ONLY seeling the amount of singles that he is becasue they are a special collector edition. If you are going to discount all charity singles, then why not see how much Elvis would sell if his singles were not collectors editions. Let alone taking 18 of his single sales comparied to 1 or possibly 2 singles for newer acts. He i know!! How about this; Elivs will have the highest single sales of anyone named Elvis in the UK in 2005! I still firmly belive he will not be the top selling artist. Anyway, it is the album charts that are the true indication. But non the less, Elvis will not have the highest single sales of the year. I liked the post a few weeks ago the someone had that said Elvis will have almost 700,000 in single sales and then with album sales included, he could top 1 million. So i think whether or not Elvis is the top seller of the year, it is still amazing if he sells a million in the UK.

Elvis is the top artist of all time whether by sales or not...any fan knows that!

Well said Elvis girl.It seems getreal is another one of those `fans` who chooses to use up keyboard time to dampen the King`s achievements.TCB

By the way, for anyone else trying to put The King`s achievements this year down, Elvis EARNED the right to have this campaign, limited or not. Elvis EARNED the right to have this massively promoted, packed shelves, advertisements, constant radio play, continual Newspaper publicity, ideo promotion, which has made it so easy for him to have all these massive hits!! Taking into account my huge chunk of sarcasm, i believe what Elvis, what WE have done is great. And to maintain the positions that we have, over this long a time frame is ,yes, a better achievement than a huge charity release. I`m not putting any other artists success down,i`m just trying to promote Elvis` in a positive light which a lot of people seem to gloss over.TCB.
