That's great news. It shows that at least some people are able to buy the single. I went to town early on monday morning and 'Are You Lonesome Tonight' was not available at any of the retailers - that's 2 HMV stores, Virgin megastore, Woolworths and Asda. I wish I knew what was going on!

Further to my posting on the 'Third number one' thread I found that Elvis had another 2 #1 hits in the United Kingdom: '(Let's Have A) Party' was #1 in the 'Melody Maker' chart. 'The Girl Of My Best Friend'/'A Mess Of Blues' was also credited with the #1 spot in the 'Melody Maker' chart. These are in addition to 'Stuck On You'/'Fame And Fortune', 'Wild In The Country', 'In The Ghetto' and 'Suspicious Minds' as I mentioned earlier. That's almost enough for another numbered, limited edition, coloured vinyl 7", 10" and 12" formats, shape C.D ' U.K #1 Hits Volume 2' box set. Which of course will not be available in any retail outlet in the whole country :-)

I did not even go out monday to see if i could find Are You Lonesome Tonight ? Tell you the truth i could not be bothered. I live 8 miles away from the nearest record shop and by the time i get there they are always sold out. Maybe i should buy Eminem instead at least you can find his singles. How many has AYLT sold so far this week ? Anyone know

I have had problems with getting these discs but thanks to this site i have been able to take the advice of fellow fans and order from HMV on line. I am delighted as i felt that i was missing out on what should have been an exciting time for all Elvis fans. The frustration was eating me up. Then today whilst reading the messages i find that ALL the singles are available at HMV. Thanks to Roy and all the other fans who recommended the site. I can now look forward to the Chart updates on Sunday and hopefully welcome news of another No.1. Thanks again

Elfan, the position regarding stocks of RU Lonesome in the shops is just as bad in the West Country, none to be bought, which is appalling. Regarding your search for extra number ones, I'm pretty sure "One Broken Heart" reached the top in one of the record papers. It might have been Record Mirror, Disc or Melody Maker! See if you can check that one out!

HMV only have the next three singles available to pre-order on vinyl, tho ALL CDs right to the end of the campaign are available (or listed as). Hopefully the rest of the singles on vinyl will pop up soon enough. I think you're right jonburrows its hassle free from HMV (except P&P bit steep) I've had all mine on day of release up to now from them. I just didn't order them all in one go - who knew they'd be this hard to get?? Great news for AYLT - with the fab 'laughing' version included as well.. that should get some airplay - surely..TCB - Long Live The King.

Early days yet pop ickers. The Brian McFadden record is being played alot on the radio. Everytime I here it I want to throw up. I think his estranged missus Kerry will be doing the same. This is great news however and w'ell just have to wait. AYLT deserves to be another no.1. IGK is also a great record. These early Elvis records are gems.

One user of the Berlin messageboard postet that information: "(1) Elvis - AYLT - 20,532 copies, (2) Bryan McFadden and Delta Goodrem - 'Almost Here' - 6,666 copies, (3) Eminem - 'Like Toy Soldiers' - 6,200 copies. Not so good is the fact that Sony BMG(UK) state there will be no more copies shipped to retail until next week as they feel they have shipped enough. I have just returned from Milton Keynes, Watford, St. Albans and Luton. There was not one copy of AYLT to be found anywhere. One can only hope that AYLT can hold on to the massive lead until close of play on Saturday." (Source: 30#1 Hits-Messageboard)

KingOf Spades, If Sony/BMG think that they're shipping enough copies to the stores, they're living on a different planet to us. In my case, on Monday there were four people in the queue and, more by luck than judgment, the shop had exactly four copies of AYLT; result! The last receipt must have been timed at 9.07am; so anyone who has gone into that store since that time on Monday morning would not have got a copy. How can that possibly be 'shipping enough copies' BMG?? Oh and I trust you weren't on foot going to all those towns?
circleG wrote on February 02, 2005
well, as a nice little flower grows in my singles box there isn't one single to be found in Harrow (anywhere!). HMV and amazon are taking orders but shipping nothing because they haven't received any stock. the last single i had was 'one night' from amazon.
asd123 wrote on February 02, 2005
ranger: i am from germany but i think you're right that there are too less copies in the british shops. good that sony\bmg announced to deliver extra copies within the next months.. so dont worry to get them all! But it doesn't help elvis' chart positions :-(
RobIreland wrote on February 02, 2005
Belfast Virgin and BMG at lots of copies of AYLT on Monday , I even picked up a copy of the cd INON. Funny thing tho, the INON cd was not displayed in the number one section, it was hidden down among the cd singles, someother trip was displayed as number one. Has anyone heard INON on the radio yet , i havent been listening.

Thanks for the info guys but the only trouble is i cant order from the internet because i dont have a credit/debit card.So i have no choice but to go to a record shop. The last single i got was A Fool Such As I. I went into Ipswich last week to see if i could get INON but i had no luck. The sales for Are You Lonesome Tonight ? are low again. Wheres the rest of them ? These singles should at least be selling 26,000 or more in the uk.
asd123 wrote on February 02, 2005
pacer you've got the same problem as me... that's why i can't impot the uk-singles regularly. i don't even own one single yet, cause many of my orders trough amazon or those z-shops have been canceled because the singles were out of stock.. pacer did you try it with amazon.uk? Also i've pre-ordered 3 singles for a friend from switzerland trough amazon germany, the first 2 singles must have been shipped 4 or 5 days ago.. and nothing happened yet. i hope they won't cancel them too :-/
phantom3428 wrote on February 02, 2005
Pacer I wouldnt bother trying Amazon UK, I pre ordered the whole lot last year on the 10th Dec and as CircleG mentioned, the last single I also received from them was 'One night' I think they have been let down badly by suppliers, because I have never had any trouble with them before and their service has always been excellent, it's all down to the supplies, so where the hell are the extra copies? If only we all knew.
phantom3428 wrote on February 02, 2005
p.s I've even yet to receive the box! God I hope HMV will now save the day. What a complete nightmare. Even so, after all the moaning, well done to everyone who manages to get these singles and making the man number one, it's the first time I've listned to the chart show in ages lol

I live in Switzerland and I had no other choice but to order from amazon. I asked to have every item shipped as it became available instead of waiting for a group order. My order was placed on the December 4th and, for the moment, all the single came to me. There were all numbered too. The only problem I had was with "A Fool Such as I" where they were a week overdue (which helps supporting all conspiracy theories concerning this specific single release I suppose). Another website you can order from if you are having problem with amazon or if you are living abroad, it's the Elvis Australia Fan club. I ordered the Vinyl box set from them as amazon was never offering it. Hope this helps.
phantom3428 wrote on February 02, 2005
Perhaps that's the mistake I made CJ, I asked for the order to be sent as one whole, but when I found out people were having difficulties finding any singles in the shops, I changed my order to have them shipped when available. Thanks for the tip about the Australian fan club though.
cj wrote on February 02, 2005
phamtom, that's probably why. To ensure delivery, I even selected "priority express" which multiplied the real price of each single by 3 for me... but when you are a fan you are a fan. As for Elvis Fan Club Australia tip, i just checked their website and it seems like my tip was well used as they are already sold out. I just hope the orders were processed by people buying the sets for the music, not the possible ebay gain...

Come on you lot - CHILL! Elvis is most likely number one again, stocks are, as I promised coming back into the shops, and Elvis is dominating the UK Charts. Plus the US people are still blanking our success, and our success is all down to you lot. Our loyalty this side of the pond is an embarrasment to EPE, so let's rub it in. And, as I also promised if you can't complete your collections at this time, towards the end of the campaign the British Fan Club has arranged with SONY-BMG to operate a top up service for members with shortfalls in their sets. Things are looking wonderful for Elvis fans at this time, and if HMV let you down this time then let them down next time 'round with your feet. We all deserve a great big pat-on-the-back, because we are showing just how powerful Elvis fans can be when we try. Good on you, and thanks again. I am so proud of you all, and for ElvisNews.com to providing this wonderful service. Todd Slaughter

And Todd it is a great time for Elvis appreciaters the world over, how lucky i feel to be living in the UK just to see Elvis dominating the charts. Not only the singles charts but the DVD charts too and now he's just entered the album charts at number 16, wow , .. to all Elvis knockers... We Told You So!

What are we all meant to do on Tuesday 26th April? Just think, no more Elvis singles to worry about. Perhaps this web-site should set up some kind of re-hab programme to get us all off the habit of waiting outside record shops on Monday mornings.

I agree with Todd and would like to add that I'm quite new to this website and very grateful for all the information provided, without which I would have completely given up on trying to get my singles two weeks ago!! it's also nice hearing from like-minded people about Elvis - as I sometimes feel like I am the only Elvis fan in Cornwall!! (only joking - I know there are others out there somewhere)

I would expect that the charting activity will continue into May. A Liitle Less Converstion is capable of getting 4 or 5 weeks in the top 10. Some of the other later singles could also continue in the charts for 3 or 4 weeks. In May we have the new TV series, and Elvis by the Presleys......
ElFan wrote on February 02, 2005
Yes, 'A Little Less Conversation' should have an extremely good chart run (if copies are available to buy) apparently the Conservative party have chosen it as their official election campaign song!

Can someone clear something up for me? Wooden Heart is beaing released with Puppet on a sring as the B-side, but how can this be??? two songs were recoded 5 years apart, for G.I Blues and Girl Happy.
bajo wrote on February 02, 2005
Regarding the Wooden Heart single, I also found the c/w Puppet On A String and the US cover a little strange. My copy back then, was the EU/German cover, which was the same as the album cover of G I Blues. The B-side was the very rare, spliced version of Tonight's All Right For Love, wich also appeared on the German LP copy of the album. In this case, the EU single with cover would have been more suitable. That EU single, with that very rare splice of Tonight's All Right For Love would have been a collectors treasure!
yelserp wrote on February 02, 2005
Hi Gerard, In the UK 'Wooden Heart' was coupled with 'Tonight Is So Right For Love' but in the USA in October 1965 it became the B Side to 'Puppet On A String' hence them using this as the bonus track. Hope that helps!

Chill? Getting up at the crack of dawn every Monday morning and praying HMV have my reserved copy behind the desk? Seeing the midweek charts on a Tuesday and having to wait till Sunday to see if Elvis is No1? Going out to buy an extra copy or two to try and ensure the number one and not seeing any copies anywhere? Reading the 50 or so messages on here on a Sunday morning hoping someone, somewhere has advance news? Getting depressed because in 2005 Elvis only gets to No2 in the charts?! I agree with ranger - What the hell are we going to do when this campaign finishes? All rush out and get the American version which I read on here they are planning to do. By the way I agree with Todd...If the Americans have as much success with their set I'll eat my head. They are embarrased of us, and especially the uk fan club who have done such a wonderful job with (it seems) very little support from across the pond.
phantom3428 wrote on February 02, 2005
Cheers Rob_Irish for the tip about the dutch shop, just got my order in and cancelled HMVs as they are not the numbered versions, I know that is picky, but the reason I'm buying this set is for an heirloom and if they aren't numbered they wont be worth much to my son in years to come.

RESULT!! As I wandered towards HMV in Solihull (nr Birmingham) spotted a huge notice outside the store , saying ELVIS IS BACK IN THE BUILDING! It stated that they now have the cd's and 10'' vinyls in stock!! Low and behold, they had all the cd's from One Night onwards and also a few vinyls, but mostly AYLT..these were numbered and the vinyls were in the 9,000 and the cd's were 29,000-30,000 numbers.I asked the assistant in HMV if they will now get stock every week and he said they have been told these are no longer limited so will be in good supply every week from now on!! Good news for me, hope this situation spreads around the country to you all! We've got to keep him at number one, so even if singles are un-limited, buy, buy,buy on the week of release to ensure 'our man' is number one a few more times :-)
Viva wrote on February 02, 2005
Another No1? surely not. How amazing is this, just think these singles have had everything thrown in the way to stop them going to No1, but here we are talking about the fourth in the series! I am bit concerned about some folks out there not buying anymore releases due to the hassle of getting them. While this is understandable, you are cutting of your nose to spite your face. Buy the damn things, get Elvis to No1 AGAIN, and we can think of ways to get back at EPE and whoever else later on. We really need to show the music press, radio DJs and anyone else out there that Elvis' success is unprecedented, and worthy of celebration.
emjel wrote on February 02, 2005
Gerard: Wooden Heart was not released in the US until 1965 as part of the Elvis Gold Standard Series. They coupled it with Puppet on a String as part of the Girl Happy promotion. The picture is printed the wrong way round, and I think BMG would have been better using the German sleeve for this release and had the b side tracks as Tonight Is So Right For Love and Tonight's All Right for Love instead of Puppet on a String. Wooden Heart however was a number 1 in the US by Joe Dowell in July 1961 on the Smash Label. Hope this helps.
