March 24, 2014 | Other

A huge pile of magazines was collected in our mailbox. Here is an overview.

My Happiness

My Happiness

From France is #87 of My Happiness. There is an interview with Amanda Lear, who did a tribute to Elvis. There’s an article on Elvis on stage in 1974, part 2 of the history of Leiber & Stoller, an interview with Anita Wood. Of course all regulars like news, reviews and such are present too.

TheElvisMag

The Elvis Mag

From the UK is Essential Elvis’ magazine, the 84th issue. Trevor Simpson is playing detective and found out who recorded several songs first, Elvis or Sir Cliff Richard. Furthermore there’s an interview with James Burton, an article on the March of Dimes, an article on Linda Thompson and the regulars.

The King

The King

From Finland is number 1/2014 of The King. They bring an article on Judy Tyler, co-actress in Jailhouse Rock, an interview with Joe Esposito, an article on George Harrison, a closer look on 1966 (part 1) and an article on Ivory Joe Hunter and I Need You So. Of course also this mag has the regulars.

Flaming Star

Flaming Star

The most beautiful magazine is without any doubt Flaming Star. We found 2 issues of the magazine (what an eye-candy!), obviously something went wrong in the mail, since #76 has been bouncing forth and back. Number 77 has articles on Hank Williams / Col. Parker / Elvis, Frankie and Johnny, Carl Perkins, an interview with Joe Esposito. Change of Habit gets a lot of attention, with tons of great pictures and an interview with the director.

Graceland

Graceland

The magazine of the German EP Gesellschaft, Graceland had its 215th issue. Next to the regulars you can find an interview with Ronnie Tutt, a huge article on Elvis’ departure to Germany in 1958 and a diary of the Memphis trip last year.

Yes another money making wheeze but at least something out of the ordinary, and to me dare I say quite original.
