June 18, 2010 | People

On June 10, Dutch journalist and fan since the early days Lodewijk Rijff, passed away after a short fight with cancer. He was only 65 years of age. From the early 70s till the 90s he wrote countless Elvis stories for the Dutch music press and was editor for Muziek Parade, PopBiz and Veronica weekly. Among the Dutch fans he will be remembered best for his book "Elvis, De Biografie van een Fenomeen", published in 1977.

Rock on in peace, brother.

Rest in peace, Lodewijk. And thanks for the book and many great stories in Veronica, I especially remember the one for the 10th anniversary, I bet you helped to get The NBC Special, Jailhouse Rock and Aloha on Dutch TV at the same night!

My condolances to Ger and the rest of the family. Lodewijk has been of great importance to get Elvis the respect that he deserved. Especially his work for the Veronica magazine and television broadcasts are tremendous. He delivered fascinating photo's and in depth stories. Elvisfans in Holland immediately noticed that was somebody was in charge who knew his Elvis! Personally speaking his Elvis biography from 1977 was of great help to this guy (who was at that time nearly a teenager!) I still rate this book very high (though much more has come to light in the post "77 years). It was Lodewijk's book that took me by the hand and made me a fan. He pinpointed the true genius of Elvis. I thank him for that.
