Lisa Marie Presley To Break Ground On Presley Place

What: Lisa Marie Presley will officially break ground on Presley Place, a transitional housing development for homeless families in Memphis, Tennessee. It is the next in a series of similar developments that have been create and managed by the Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association (MIFA) in Memphis, all under their widely acclaimed Estival Communities program. Who: Lisa Marie Presley, Allen Israel, MIFA Chairman of the Board, Margaret Craddock, MIFA Executive Director, Jack Soden, Elvis Presley Enterprises CEO. When: Thursday, June 8 at 10:30 a.m. Where: 701 St. Paul Avenue between McKinley and Orleans, Across from Alonzo Locke Elementary School Memphis, Tennessee. The Elvis fans, general public and media are invited to attend. Special Notes: Supported by the Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation, Presley Place will provide homeless families up to one year of rent-free housing, child day care, employment counseling, money management training and other life skills instruction to help them break the cycle of poverty and gain self-esteem and independence. Phase One of Presley Place will be a 12-unit apartment facility which could be in operation as early as January 2001. A special added feature for the Presley Place edition of Estival Communities will be the Elvis Presley Music Room, where the youngsters of Presley Place and other Estival properties may enjoy access to musical instruments and instruction and participate in special related programs.
