Larry King Live To Have Another Elvis Edition

August 16, 2003 | People
Larry King Live will devote their Monday, August 18th show to Elvis. Their guest list for interviews includes Elvis's long-time friend and personal staff member, Joe Esposito. They also say that Rick Stanley and David Stanley (sons of Elvis's father's second wife) will be among the guests. (No comment.) They also indicate that a "former girlfriend of Elvis" will be on the show - name not announced at this writing.

Once again they made Elvis look bad. My Question is why don't they ever have on Charlie Hodge? Maybe he could set things straight? I always believed that Charlie was closer to Elvis than Joe because Charlie had his own room at Graceland.

Jessy, I believe that Larry King airs at 3am your time, then is repeated again at 10am in the morning. It's 2 and 9 in England and you guys are an hour ahead, so that should be right. Tony

Hmm, the Stanleys and Joe in one show though. I'm not sure I have much time for any of them. I used to think Joe was a good guy, but having read his own accounts about how he was effectively spying on Elvis for the Colonel, I'm not so sure. As for the Stanleys, well I think we all know that they have a great tendency to be the masters of contradiction. Linda has already done a complete show with Larry and she came across really well. I'd be surprised if it's Ginger, as she seems to shy away from the media.

I know it's always kind of hard to get through the phone-in procedure to ask questions of Larry King and his guests. But if someone out there in ElvisNews land manages to get through before me (and I've tried and failed on previous Elvis-related occasions), could/would you please ask "Diamond Joe" Esposito if anyone in the inner circle (Memphis Mafia or otherwise) ever reminded Elvis that Colonel Parker worked for him and not vice-versa. I've always felt that the King's weary, yet ready acceptance of anything and everything Parker threw his way had more to do with Vernon Presley's constant financial worries than with Elvis's own artistic vision/aspirations. Thanks. And thanks also to ElvisNews for "Bringing It Back," the opinion option, that is.

I don't have sky or anything like that. Is there a transcript anywhere please of the interviews. The Stanley brothers eh? :-(

The CNN website should have a transcript available once the program is aired, which is better than nothing for us poor souls who won't get to see it!

That should be an intresting show. I wonder if it will be Ginger Alden. It seems Linda Thompson is the more outspoken one though.
