My wife actually works for a subsidiary of Kingsmill, and they never actually intended to make a loave of bread shaped like his head after it was discovered the costs to make the template would be far too high. This never really got past 'idea' stage, but somehow word got out and rumours were flying around everywhere. So if Sid Shaw thinks he's grabbed himself a great victory... he's sadly wrong, although knowing the self publicist he'll be trying to milk this for all he's worth. What I've never understood about Sid is this...Why on earth doesn't he ever wear one of those Elvis wigs that he sells, rather than the ridiculous wig he does wear?

On Monday I spoke to the PR lady for Kingsmill, based in West London incidentally, not Yorkshire. She had never heard of Sid shaw's campaign. The reason the bread has not appeared is that only a very small amount was made, they do not have mass supplies of the baking tin needed. They never intended to sell it nationally, the Press got hold of the story & made 5 loaves into 5,000(!) She said the reaction to their idea was positive & they may consider making more baking tins with the silhouette for future use. Let's hope they do – it's rather fun, an inoffensive & amusing idea on their part!

This makes me laugh. This comes from the man who brought us Elvis soap ? The king of tack, mounting a campaign on something which really is a great campaign. I'd love a loaf. please Sid go back to selling your own junk.
