just ordered my copy from 'now dig this' and really looking foward to getting my cd soon!;i got both the original usa album and the uk release and always loved this particular album and thought it was quite a strong album from elvis and contained some classic elvis music. i remember playing the album in 1975 when first released in'75 and thinking how diverse elvis really was at music making! i mean, this albims got everything-country, ballads and rock tracks. only elvis could produce such an album. to hear original session mixes and unreleased outtakes make me quiver. cant wait to sit down and listen to all the outtakes and remastered sound- compared to the "original album" it will be a blast...10/10.

Jusr received the 3 CD's. Today is excellent, as Is All Shook Up. Tickle Me is a waste of money and time, only s nippet of new material (99% we had already). But happy with the lot, thanks FTD !

secondrichard, tell us some more about "Today". For example the new outtake from "Pieces Of My Life". Or other highlights.

I have ordered my "Today" and "All Shook Up". Amazon haven't sent them yet. I'm normally a really impatient person but after last weeks bombing in London I am going to wait and teach myself to be patient. And then when I receive the cds I'm going to savour every song, and completely ignore my husbands raised eyebrows.

ElvisNews.com state that these three CDs, Today, All Shook Up and Tickle Me have all been released. Yet according to Amazon.co.uk these CDs will now be released on Monday 18th July 2005. Could someone Please clarify if these are definitely released and why are there so many conflicting reports on release dates. I am chomping at the bit for these CDs.

Only ordered the today release and got it yesterday. Its great, especially the original session mixes with an extended susan when she tried as the highlight. These cds was released late last week in europe. Obviously the americans have to wait a little longer as the cds are produced in Denmark.

Hi, what do you call great? Today comes in an amateurish "Coverart" and a flat bad midrange sound. No dynamic left, no deep bass only a loud and lifeless, compressed to death sound. An improvement? No, DSD-Technology? No, Top notch sound quality? No, Top soundengeneer? No, just poor old Lene Reidel! Top price? Yes. If you should have the Japanese 20 Bit/K2 version, stick to it. This 6 year old japanese version has better soundquality than this escape! Another chance has passed by to get a great Album in a great Version! Shame on you Ernst!

Are you serious Matthias ?

today is superb, sound is great, listing of takes is great It`s a dream come true thank you FTD
Mathias wrote on July 13, 2005
Dear Ton, Yes,I am serious! I do not expect that every Elvis Fan is also an audiophile High End Freak like me. Just compare “And I Love You So” with the Love, Elvis CD and then you will hear what I mean. Where are FTD`s new talented Soundengineers like Kevin Budd or Sebastian Jeansson or even Andreas Meyer? All of them have an ear and feeling for Elvis’s music, but not Lene Reidel (One of the worst technician I ever heard). DSD was used even for budget releases why not for this album? Not worth it? If you want to hear real great sounding albums from `75 that were recorded under similar circumstances just listen to: Elton John’s Captain Fantastic & The Brown Dirt Cowboy (SACD) or Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody (DVD-Audio). But with Elvis the King, the Artist of the Century we always get second best!

why does everybody complains! Let's just be glad FTD even gives us these outtakes. It's always better then most bootlegs isn't it? So please be glad! so Stop complaing please. keep up the good work FTD! shame on you Mathias!

Come on, Danny. He's not complaining, he just gives his opinion. He has the right to do so. I am still have no answer on my question how the new outtake is from "Pieces Of My Life" on Today. Anyone ?
Danny B wrote on July 13, 2005
I think it is complaining. But sure he's allowed to gives his opinion. Well, I still think he must be thankfull for what FTD is giving us. With or without DSD. But Ton, I'm also wondering how take 2,3 is!! keep in touch!
NorwayElvis wrote on July 13, 2005
take2 is a 30 sec false start...take3 is little bit more polished than take 1(close up box)but I enjoyed the original studio session mix the most.Only worth mention is that it is slighty shorter.
Axeman517 wrote on July 13, 2005
He's not complaining...he has a right to hear professionally produced CD's. I agree that Lene couldn't produce a decent mix if he had Phil Spector and Tom Dowd helping him. His work has been atrocious, in my opinion. They should hire David Bendeth or myself to mix these things! I am still waiting for my copy to arrive but I am disheartened to hear that Lene mixed this CD!

I'm an audiophile too and I was sad wit the last ftd elvis is back issue, after that it was an outstanding great elvis by the presleys cd sound, and now it seems by the comments we have another bad work. I don't understand!!! One more time the best are the japanese cd 20 or 24 bit releases?

Finally after weeks of waiting -the three new FTD releases arrived from Amazon.'Elvis TOday' was the one I was looking forward to most, alas, it's the greatest disappoinment. I can only agree with the sentiments here, the mixing and mastering are simply dreadful - there appears to be a midband suck-put robbing the music of vitality and life. My friend has a rather expense Meridian hifi - cost over £20,000 - and even on that, this CD is unlistenable. Generall the digital speakers make older recordings sound wonderous, yet not this time. Great pity... Hope when they get aroung to the Stax sessions, someone else is responsible for the engineering.

I am sad to read that the majority of people do not like this release because I was looking forward to it. I think its one of Elvis's finest piece of work he had done in years. The 6363 Sunset release looks very similiar to this. Does anyone have this release and the 6363 release? And if so which one is the better of the two.
elvistruth wrote on July 21, 2005
you're completeley right suzi b. FTD today haves a very poor flat and lifeless sound. my musical fidelity excellent system let me clear the rude reality of an extreme poor release as that. And what now? More releases as these were the end of an beautiful concept of our great Ernst. So please more care about sound quality.
