Lichter & Tunzi - perfect together!

The two highest priced guys in the business get together. In the past Tunzi's products have been good but overpriced. While Litchner's have just been overpriced.

Paul Lichter is a famous conman,Tunzi is well-known for his overpriced products. What a "great" couple... :(

...though that is one hell of a pic!

One doubts that the much vaunted "very special promo-only Speedway compact disc' etc will be in any way an RCA/BMG official product! Just another Lichter come-on con... Yet another one to avoid.

The best thing I can say about Speedway, is, Elvis may have had his best hair ever.
theoldscudder wrote on October 10, 2010
Speaking about hair if this sells well maybe Litchtner will buy some.

As I may have mentioned about a dozen times before, Sony do not have the "Speedway" session tapes. That makes it rather difficult for them to release them. They could, of course, emerge one day in the MGM music archives but that is a long shot.

Tony C - you will never convince this person that Sony does not own any outtakes on this movie or any other of the endless rants she posts about missing outtakes. Its getting quite broing to keep reading about them. What great songs are from this movie besides Let Yourself Go? The others are all fluff. The title song is very ordinary. The TV Sepcial version of LYG was one of his best performances ever. He gave his all. I cant believe what I read here at times. If it wasnt for the TV special, Speedway may have been the final nail in the career coffin. You can keep this book for 60.00!

I don't agree that Speedway was such a bad movie. It was above average for an Elvis-movie, and songs like "Speedway", "There Ain't Nothing Like a Song" and of course "Let Yourself Go" are good songs. "Your Time Hasn't Come Yet Baby" is nice too. The Sinatra song "Your Groovy Self" is actually quite good too, except for the fact that she was not a good singer. And the sound on that song and "There Ain't Nothing.." is really bad! I don't understand why they kept on using those sound stages. Cheap, yeah, but the sound is bad. Lots of the soundtracks where destroyed due to the bad quality of the sound, like Frankie and Johnny, Double Trouble and others. I think that a big reason to why the fans are negative towards many of the soundtracks are the sound quality. All the hits from his movies where mainly recorded in a professional studio too, like Return to Sender, Viva Las Vegas, Follow That Dream.. Even Roustabout was recorded in a real studio, and made it to no 1. Well well..

Regarding the outtakes for Speedway, wasn't it mentioned on several Elvis sites 2-3 years back that Ernst acquired (yes, paid money) the complete sessions for this movie from the bootleggers? Or was is the stereo mixes for the masters? I clearly remember reading this, I might have even photo copied it. And no, I'm not getting confused with Spinout, as FTD released this in 2004.

Take Elvis out of the movies he starred in & most would be considered garbage. No one would even comment on them. What made them bad was laughable plots & too many medicore songs. So I got to agree with dgirl on this one.

Hope I can buy soon the FTD digipack on Speedway ! It's my fav !!!! Great songs that I grew up with. Can't wait to hear when it'll become available. A friend said that JAT has already submitted all graphic materials to FTD to make it happen & release it still this year. Hope so, really ! Tunzi brings quality work to all of us. Expensive ? Yes, but quality is always expensive.

Is it me or is it a recent plague of "new members" posting almost the same comments on missing outtakes? In my younger years I loved both: Speedway, the film and the soundtrack. Today I find them just OK. An FTD release of this "classic album"? No, thanks. I can live without it :)
dgirl wrote on October 15, 2010
Pedro you are correct. There is a certain person who keeps joining under different names posting the same rant about missing outtakes from Speedway K Creole & Kissin Cousin. and when is FTD gonna release the rest of the classic albums Been doing it for quite some time.
Steve V wrote on October 15, 2010
That is true. It looks like SwCaroline & Judy Wahini and whatever other aliases he/she used have been uncovered. And that's good because this person called me a moron just for stating my opinion once that didn't agree with theirs.

Just what I thought. Any idea how can we get rid of them? It used to be nice place, where I loved to spent time (and I still do!), but in recent months there were awful arguments, and now spamming trolls... Can we clean this mess somehow?

I am on top of that, believe me!
