Regarding this vast amount of 1971 concerts available on bootleg, one important thing to mention is that they are audience recordings.

As for our friend Steve V, I do not know where one would get the idea that most people do not like his comments. I would have thought that the opposite of that is true, many people sprang to Steve's defence when he recently came under attack from the usual morons. Steve is a long term fan who actually knows his subject and does not constantly demand the release of tapes that are not known to exist anymore, such as the "King Creole" out-takes.

With regarding to the previous comment about this goldmine of 1971 live recordings that Ernst is sitting on (hopefully not literally!), quite where does this information come from? Another insider or a figment of an over fertile imagination? There are many 1971 audience tapes floating around, but if anybody thinks that all of these show exist as soundboard recordings they are in for a huge disappointment. 1971 was the first year since Elvis' return to the stage two years earlier that RCA did not make any live recordings at all. The somewhat below-par soundboard tapes from January and February have been heavily bootlegged and a selection of those recordings were featured on the "The Impossible Dream" FTD release. Jumping forward to the end of the year, the Boston recording from November 10th has seen an official release after several bootleg versions. The only other documented recording is one from Lake Tahoe on July 24th, a photo of the tape box is shown on Keith Flynn's site. However, we do not know who owns this tape, the quality of the recording or even if the actual tape is in the box. Perhaps the previous contributor does have inside information and if so, will give us details and hopefully a list of the existing recordings. I won't hold my breath while waiting, I have made this challenge several times before and have had it met by silence. You say you are frustrated, believe me, many of us here are frustrated but for different reasons!

Certainly not CDs like this, it is a bootleg.

Do CD's like this and CD's from FTD count towards to the "total sales"?

Did they copy/paste the old CD or is it better sound now (or different source)?

That's my feeling too, Wiebe. Though I don't feel like buying them as a re-release. A complementary CDr is also fine with me.

I love audience recordings. A sense of being there in the hall. Bring em on!

No offense but dont we have enough audience recordings and re released audience recordings im not a fan of audience recordings at all i much prefer soundboard or multitrack recordings so i dismiss all theese crappy audience recordings for those who like them good news ill stick to FTD
