I thought it was something special at the time. I liked it. I've gathered together a CDR from the vinyl I have in order to create both the US and UK versions of this. I may actually go out and get this if the sound is proper to the originals!

An overdubbed crap, in my opinion... I ever hate this LP !

Loved this album back in the 80s. It was RCA's answer to the "Stray Cats" who were bringing back the Rockabilly early Elvis sound, on the pop charts, at the time. I wish RCA would "officially" release this album, along with the Soundtrack album, to the movie "This is Elvis". Both were "strong Albums" in the 80s. Of note: The import version was better than the american version, because it featured more songs !

it's funny how they say it's never been realesed on cd before, because i allready got it on a silverpressed cd only different thing is that mine is in a jewelcase and it got 12 bonus songs (or so it says but when you coun't them there are 13 bonus songs) this cd was printed in belgium year 2007 there are no record label but it says legendary vinyl classics and it have a number LVC 001 and the sound is perfect. i don't know if it's a fanclub cd but it's amazing.

Hey Lacke Lee, the Legendary Vinyl Classics release is a silver CDR ( you can see it printed in the ring). The sound is good, i admit, but still from vinyl.

Loved the album in the 80s, and will look for it again on CD. I know many say they dont like remixes, but this is not like the recent remixes. Its DJ and Scotty re-doing there original parts and just giving it a nice stereo sound. I like that. Love the art and cover too. We all have our opinions, but one thing we all agree on, " We love Elvis and all the great music" Hello to my buddy GK. PEACE ALL!!!!!

Hello, this album features not remixes but stereo overdubs grafted on to 1950s mono sources. The exception is 1961's stereo 'Little Sister' which has always been a punchy-sounding rocker and didn't need beefing up with overdubs adorning it here. A handful of the songs sound okay (e.g. 'Baby Let's Play House', 'My Baby Left Me') but mostly the album sounds unnatural for the obvious reason that the 1980s overdubs are in higher fidelity than the '50s source tapes. Like all such things, it's only fair that fans should listen to it and make up their own view from an informed position. But the 1950s originals are truly historic recordings and these overdubbed versions - like the 'Viva Elvis' CD - are really only a bit of fun. A harmless curio from yesteryear.

To all those who love it : no problem, OK. But I even don't feel the need to listen to these "not original" stereo. I'll stick to the originals ( nothing can beat them), and that's a lot of fun to me. Always El.

Yes it came out in the early 80's when a Rockabilly revival was very strong with The Stray Cats & Robert Gordon making great albums, and then we had Queen's Crazy Little Thing 45. I bought the LP,played it maybe twice and put it on the shelf. It didnt do anything for me and sounded very unnatural. I'll take the originals. I wont be purchasing the CD even though you may get the aforementioned Elvis Medey.

This release is from the same producer of the recent This Is Elvis import. I bought that one, and it's phenomenal. A few of the tracks on This Is Elvis are overdubbed, which makes sense to me in that a big screen movie needs big sound. And I can see bringing back the original players to re-work some of the Elvis classics for a concept album. Doing so is like what they do for Elvis The Concert. I've yet to hear any objections to that. Anyway, I don't see any harm in a bit of Elvis experimentation, and if this is a CD you're looking forward to, I don't think that you'll be disappointed.
