I Am An Elvis Fan. Are You?

April 24, 2012 | Other

EPE launched a new site today with the slogan 'I Am An Elvis Fan. Are You?'. It's not clear what the purpose of the site is, as this info is still a secret. You can see a countdown running untill May 1 and this text: Beginning May 1, 2012, you will be able to visit this landing page and find three ways to declare, “I am an Elvis fan.” While we can’t tell you all the details quite yet, we wanted to let you know that more information on this special 35th anniversary online celebration will be posted soon. The countdown is on!

Although die hard fans can find it unnecessary these are I think very useful and welcoming for the new fans and also young kids/ curious people about Elvis will love it;especially the design. I loved it.. ;)

This is what is it about: 1 - You can select your favorite songs from each period and genre, the most voted upon songs will be included on commemorative CD that will be used on 31/7 2 - You can upload your picture to be included on the fan mosaic that will be created with hundreds of fan pictures 3 - You can buy an I am an Elvis fan t-shirt to remember the 35th anniversary Nice but not spectacular, nevertheless good these kinds of initiatives are undertaken to remember him.

A complete waste of time. No different from any other fan selected album - of which there's been several. Actually, the others have been infinitely better. The songs included ine ach category defy any logic, I would guess that whoever chosen them really doesn't knowthe songs at all. Examples: 1. One Night ot in the 50s list but in Love Songs! 2. A completely inconsequential song as Welcome To My World included when so many other songs are not. 3 Just Pretend not included in Love Songs but in Concert Songs 4. If I Can dream included as a Gospel SOng - it's nothing of the kind, it's a protest song. 5. Loving Feeling is listed in two categories - Love Songs and Concert Songs 6. Other than She Thiks I Still Care, there is no studio recording later than 1972 Complete rubbish!

Total waste of time that will result in another useless compliation to add to the many that already confuse the public. Is this really an EPE brainchild or is it Sony? Whoever hey have no clue on what to do anymore. Where is My Baby Left Me, Reconsider Baby, etc. The catagories have songs that dont belong. Ugh!

This is a great idea. Sure it's not earth shattering but it's a neat fusion of technology and marketing that is fresh and different. I voted for my favorite songs (of the ones listed) and sent up my picture to be used in the cover. I also preordered and hope to see my name in the packaging. Sure that's all small in the big picture but is cool for $15US. Elvis forever!

I think it's a great idea for new fans. It's not aimed at fans like us, but maybe it could spark something off and make them think. Perhaps they realise they do like Elvis and are actually an Elvis fan. If it gets even a few more newer fans on board it can only be a good thing. They couldn't list all of Elvis's fantastic work. I could have a list as long as my arm and still have favourite songs I haven't added. Very nice design too.
