Shortly after the soon-to-be released second volume of "A Wild Weekend in Huntsville!" the Madison label will release a CD entitled "Hot August Night" featuring the August 12, 1972 Midnight Show as recorded from the soundboard at the Las Vegas Hilton. A couple of songs from this concert have been released as bonus material on the 2005 Follow That Dream release "Summer Festival"
From the "press-release":
Elvis was in great form physically and vocally ,and delivered an excellent performance in the Hilton Showroom that night. This packaging will contain a superb 16 page booklet with liner notes and color photographs. This concert features a few previously released performances but for the first time available unedited. A great show in excellent sound quality ... don't miss it !

What, exactly is unreleased from this show? Haven't we had this one already?
fantastic cover! but where's Od Shep? :-)
Almost a carbon copy of the Madison Sq Garden show from June. Whats the big deal here?
i have every recording Elvis ever did but might buy this one, might be a keeper.
Steve V: Yes? Elvis did What Now My Love, Fever, One Night, My Way, A Big Hunk 'O Love and Tiger Man in MSG??????
wayup - There is nothing new to offer here. Tiger Man (opening only) I do not count as a song. Perhaps I shouldnt have said MSG, but a basic 72-73 is more what I was alluding to. I'd rather see On Tour on DVD then listen to another 1972 show on CD.
did he ever erform burning love in vegas in 1972?
Madison = Quality...no matter what.. For newbies a must-have..for collectors a nice addition..
The old import, "Blazing Into The Darkness" alleged to be the DS from 8/11, but it was actually 8/12. Here we have the MS from 8/12. The soundboard quality on Blazing was not all that good, but still listenable. The show quality was very good. Elvis was in a great mood, and his voice was strong. Madison puts out fantastic releases, so I have high hopes that this one will be a keeper. And having familiarity with the other show recorded the same day, I'd say this is going to be a worthwhile purchase. I'm certainly going to get it.
Mofoca 22- No, I don't think Elvis ever did sing "Burning Love" in Las Vegas in 1972- or at least, nothing has been released. (He did sing it on tour in 1972, as we all know.) The only time Elvis sang it in Las Vegas was in March 1975, in August 1975, and again in Dec. 1975. I hope this helps.
Indeed it is the same song list over & over, but theres nothing we or the folks at madison can do about that, they do put together a nice package, something a certain other label is lacking overall!
Actually, Elvis did sing Burning Love also a couple of times in January 1973 in Vegas.
Elvis didn't perform Burning Love during January 1972 and he didn't perform it during August/September either but on 18th August 1972 Dinner Show the Opening of Burning Love was started but stopped not long after the opening bars, it is available on the CD-R Elvis Does It Again
Maybe FTD should just copy this cd and release it. Those clamoring for a 'new' soundboard would be happy. It looks like a good package.
No thanks,Ftd would ruin it somehow, first it would have no liner notes and the artwork would probally be not so great!
No thanks! 60% of the FTD's were ruined by Lene Reidel and/or Ernst Jorgensen.
How could i not mention the sound,of course they have been screwing that up for so long, have become use to it,the dallas show from 75 comes to mind, but there are plenty of other examples!
It will be a winner! The cover looks fantastic, the show is great (like all shows from '72) and mostly unreleased. Thanks in advance,Madison!
mature elvis fan75 has got it exactly right! Please FTD, keep your hands off of it!
Nice cover. But a rather redundant show, don't you think?
