High Sierra Fever Released

November 02, 2007 | Music
The import CD "High Sierra Fever" with Elvis performance from May 7, 1973 as recorded from the audience at Lake Tahoe has been released.

From the original pressrelease:

This concert includes classy performances of "Steamroller Blues", "You Gave Me A Mountain", "I'm Leavin' ", "What Now My Love", "I'll Remember You", "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and "A Big Hunk O'Love". As a bonus, an excerpt of "Surrender" and the seldom performed "It's Over", recorded during the Midnight Show the previous day were added. Both mastertapes were recorded by the same person, and they are of equal sound-quality.

This recording comes from a 1st generation copy of the original tape. As you’ve come to expect from us, the sound was restored in a renowned studio to achieve the best possible results. And it's not necessary to emphasize another Straight Arrow label tradition – this new CD comes in a deluxe package with a 16-page booklet, containing a collection of live- and candid photographs from April, May and June 1973, rare Lake Tahoe memorabilia, informative liner notes as well as details about Elvis' Lake Tahoe 1973 season.

That`s the differnce to the crappy, cheaply made audience recordings: You get something for your money. We have a release in excellent layout..a 16-page booklet with all infos you need about Elvis in Tahoe 1973, with excellent pix ..some of them I haven`t seen before. We have a complete show with no fakes added. We have a sound that is-admittedly-not the very best, but they made all efforts to achieve best sound quality from what they had. The original tape wasn`t the best. And..last but not least we have a completely new show..not even availible on CDR before..and it`s a good one...Elvis was always better in Tahoe than in Vegas...much more inspired. More to say..???

I'll only buy it if that's the right belt for that suit on the cover. I can't tell you how many times I've been disappointed in these audience recordings because the belt didn't match the suit.
