Here Come The Stars

This is the cover of the upcoming Straight Arrow CD Here Come The Stars, containing the Dinner Show in Las Vegas on December 4, 1976.

From the press-release:

The next release from Straight Arrow (SA 2009-14-02), will be the Las Vegas December 4th, 1976 Dinner show. Together with Opening night (released as "LAST VEGAS OPENING NIGHT", SA 2009-12A/B-02) it is the strongest concert of Elvis's last Las Vegas season, containing excellent performances of "Tryin' To Get To You", "America", "Bridge Over Troubled Water", "Hurt" and "How Great Thou Art". An absolute highlight is a mesmerizing recitation of "What Now My Love".
This recording was previously released in 1995 on the hard-to-find CD "Love Letters From Nevada". Now the tape was restored using today's advanced technology, and the sound quality is excellent – really remarkable for an off-line source. The bonus tracks were added from an independent original tape of the same show, recorded using a cassette recorder equipped with two microphones. This alternate source, though inferior, does exhibit noticeable channel separation and natural ambience.
Just like all previous releases from this label, this new CD will come in a deluxe package with a 16-page booklet, containing a collection of photographs taken between December 3 - 7, 1976 and informative liner notes as written by a lucky fan WHO WAS THERE. This CD is set for release on December 15.

Sadly i have to agree with elvis sweden. The sound quality on HCTS is worse than it was on LLFN 15 years ago. S.A. used too much noise reduction and the final result is a hiss-free but FLAT and MUFFLED sound quality. If the sound quality is the most important thing for you, then try to get LLFN. This is a rare CD but it's not impossible to get it for $30 or $40 if you're lucky. If you can't get it then you have to be satisfied with HCTS. This way you will save a few bucks, you will have a nice 16-page booklet and you will have slightly worse sound quality. It's your choice... All in all,it's a disappointing release soundwise and i also expected much more from S.A.

Most of this engagement was recorded in this 'pseudo-stereo' manner. Why re-releasing an old show? I have the original. One customer less.

I had the 'Love Letters From Nevada' on cdr because it was almost impossible to get the original. My first thoughts were: wow, what a concert and what a sound. This reissue is a great thing. Straight Arrow rules!

GRT, there is a well-known internet auction house. Just be a little patient, it will pop up.

Ok, I read about these releases, but I never see them anywhere. Where does one buy this CD.

Don't miss this great concert! Not too many fans, even the die hards, do not have the original from 97. Absolutely, a stunning show, one of the best from 76!

Back in 1997 we had this show on Love Letters From Nevada by the Sundial Productions label ....long sold out now..this concert belongs to the best of this Vegas season..the MS is quite good , too....Elvis had a great day...we have an excellent setlist and Elvis sings with passion and joy (no wonder..Roy Orbison and Engelbert were in the audience..lol..)..the highlight is What Now My Love with spoken lyrics..you get goosebumps....if Straight Arrow has even improved the sound..and I am absolutely sure..we have an excellent audience recording..right before Xmas..Thumbs Up !!
