Hampton Roads

November 22, 2004 | Music
Set for release from the Triangle label is the CD “Hampton Roads” with a show from April 1972 (from the "On Tour" recordings). Apart from a 40 page booklet, with lots of color shots, the CD contains a reprint of the 1972 MGM pressbook. As for the packaging, this set comes packed in a “paper sleeve” just like the typical 2 lp sets from that period.

Furthermore the (5 color) picture disc (which is a real cd this time) is packed in a special made innersleeve, with pictures of 23 bootleg vinyl albums containing material from “Elvis On Tour”.

For those of us who weren't even born when Elvis dies, let alone in 1972 - what is the 1972 MGM pressbook?
J. wrote on November 22, 2004
Shouldn't it come out like a year ago?

I was born in 1982... so, what is a 1972 MGM Pressbook? Where can I get that CD? I'm from Chile!

For those of you who are interested...A "pressbook" is a document that (in this case) movie studios distribute to newspapers, TV etc with relevant details about a film...these often include cast, credits and some "blurb" about the film and performers, photos etc etc...I think this looks like a great release and I for one will be hunting it down!

They promised to top the first Cd. O.k. I will buy it because I like the cover and I hope the pressbook promise the same. Will they put out a digipack- and a jewelcase version like the first Cd ? TCB.

This CD looks simply amazing. If the sound is anything like Greensboro I think we have a classic on our hands. The packaging looks among the best "import" releases ever!

When will we stop being amazed by the seventies cover art? I cannot believe how slick the cover art is on this one. Congratulations to all involved in this project. Hopefully the webauthors will make this available soon!

Why doesn't or didn't FTD release a pressbook with the soundtrack releases?
Jimbo wrote on November 26, 2004
Because FTD gives you as little of extra material as possible and run away with your money
