Good Chart News From BMG Ireland

January 07, 2005 | Music
We received information from a reader who contacted Sony BMG in Ireland on the UK sales, and they confirmed that Elvis has sold 10,500 copies of his single this week, Steve Brookstein, who is currently number 1, has only sold 2,000 copies this
week, giving Elvis an 8,000 single lead heading into the weekend.

Sounds abit high to me, but who cares, as long as it hits number 1. Anyone got any further updates on the pressing of the vinyl version of One Night, I heard there was problems at the pressing plant.?

got my jhr at hmv [the last copy] in belfast. also, asu. i note that when i play asu on my pc the track listings are; don't be cruel / hound dog / heartbreak hotel. plays the correct tunes okay. anyone notice this? another question, if jhr enters the uk singles chart at #1, will it become the first record / song [same versons] to do so twice.?

derekd , Bohemian Rapsody by Queen did it already. There may be other examples but that is the first that comes to mind.

UK TV show CD:UK just confirmed Jailhouse Rock as #1 for this week. Best to wait for the official chart on Sunday but the number 1 spot looks assured for Elvis. What great timing, on his birthday as well !

The gap is not that big. Reliable sources on elvissecondtonone (Brian Quinn) estimate close to 20,000 to JHR, and around 15,000 to Against All Odds. Of course these are just estimates, but are based on data from late in the week. While anything could happen today, he odds strongly favour ELV1S.

Just wondering what footage theyr gooing to show on Top of the pops and that ?

I guess they will use the song from the film - certainly, this was a video RCA put together a few years ago when JR was released for the nth time. So should be no copyright issues. Then again, knowing TOTPs, maybe they will end with the number 2 record!

Harmston if that happens theres going to be a lot of angry fans out there. I remember that happened a few times with A Little Less Conversation, the chart shows, CD UK included ended with the number two record. That is just so frustrating.
