Golden Classics From China

March 15, 2009 | Music

BMG China recently issued the promotional CD "Golden Classics" for radio stations. Supposedly it will be the last promo CD on Elvis ever to be released in China and it should contain twelve unreleased alternate takes according to the update on the World Wide Elvis website. Only a select few radio stations received this as only a very small number were supposedly pressed.

Well, I hope it's not the last one from BMG China. Their titles have been really interestingly off-beat, with a fresh assortment of songs not commonly heard together usually with alternates that we don't hear in such an order, and at least one set of remixes. Someone in the Far East is a true fan ...! Believe it or not, between the choice of artwork (itself rather original) and the fresh sounding music, it's enough to make you re-think the idea that such foreign promo titles are for "cover collectors" only. World wide is probably the best source for these on western shores. I'll be on the look-out for this one, while I still can.
