Godfather Gets Gracelanded?

The children of late soul singer James Brown are planning to turn his home into a Graceland-like museum and build a mausoleum on the site for his body. The Brown family wants to consult with Elvis Presley's family to see how they did Graceland. Jack Soden, CEO of Elvis Presley Enterprises, said it's not unusual for family members of deceased entertainers to contact the Presley estate. "We've been happy to give the benefit of what we've learned to heirs," Soden said.

Robban - James Brown was not a B artist. As one of the original inductess into the R&R Hall Of Fame his contributions to soul & R& B music rival Elvis' to Rock music. There was no one bigger to young black people than James Brown. You had to be around in the 60's to know that. At 42 yrs old he was still giving concerts that artists in their 20's could only hope to do. Where was Elvis at 42? B artist indeed.

Why hype these dead B artists to be far more than they are and put them on a high pedistal, just because we feel sorry for them, for dying? You can like a lot of artists other than Elvis, I do it aswell. But there´s a big differense in liking an artist and loving an artist or person. Is there enough people around the world, who truely loves B artists like J.B. and are they willing to go visit and pay for his Brownland, I doubt it very much. Maybe the first year, but then what? Money talks bullshit walks. And I don´t like it when somebody put words in my mouth either, ask me of my opinion instead, if something is unclear.

Why compare anyone to the King ? One can never ever although James Brown did and does have alot of fans. I also like him a great deal. But dont you think his widow and child should be taken care of first? Its a real shame to see that they are left on the doorstep! perhaps, not all can hope to be as generous as the King who had a heart of gold tenfold! This also makes Graceland a wonder of wonders!

"There are alot (sic) better artists near deathrow, than JB ever was, or ever will be", according to Robban. Why is it that people who admire one artist are so eager to dismiss the accomplishments of other artists? James Brown had his first hit in 1956, and went on to have dozens of hits. His catalog is massive, he was a prolific songwriter, bandleader and producer. Besides which he played an important role in the emancipation of black Americans. He urged black children to attend or return to school and get a good education. He was also an inspiration to countless other (black) performers.

Viva laughed alot at your comment. I don´t think James Brown has so many fans, it´s a hype now yes, but will he be remembered or missed in the future by the alot of people? He´s only had about three hit songs worldwide and most people doesn´t even know who he is. Sure you can build an expensive Graceland around him, but will it stand for long, before it´s bankruppt? Ok you can like a couple of songs with every artist, but will it be financial to build a Graceland kind of thing around them, when they die? There are alot bigger artists near deathrow, than J.B. ever was, or ever will be. Well ok go ahead and build whatever, it´s not my money.

Viva, You can bet if there is a market for "James Brown bottle openers," we will see it. It is all about big business and turning profits and dollars.

Nice one EPE, can't wait for the James Brown bottle openers, the "I feel good" James Brown vitamin tablets and the much anticipated James Brown impersonator contest to be held in his garden.

Steve V, It seems when celebs kick the bucket, many times their heirs contact Graceland for advise. One problem, none of them are ELVIS!

Why not? Sounds good. His fans deserve it.
