I'm pretty sure FTD is going to release G.I.Blues in 2011.

Evenso, I'll order this one (and the FTD as well). MRS releases have been splendid so far. I'm sure this one will also be top notch as usaual. Always El.

I hope that there will be also an 5.1 audio dvd included.

My boy..My boy - how time flies. It's hard to believe that the 50 year mark has reached the material recorded for "GI Blues." That makes this material a no-brainer for a release for MRS and a four CD set, too. Looks like the've beat FTD on getting this material out. I heard rumblings that this was going to be a two volume seton FTD with the first set coming out in the summer with the second set being released this winter. I've also heard a rumour about a soundtrack for "Flaming Star" to be released on FTD. I guess we'll have to wait until after the February release of "White Night" to see what Ernst has in store. Didn't he say awhile back that he wanted to keep the fans better informed and in a much more timely manner ?

I was looking elsewhere and ernst has responded to this and stated he would release an FTD GI Blues. I personally believe that the FTD version will not be released for a few years, despite this statement. Remember I said this.

I will never buy another release from this label. The last release i bought from them was OFF DUTY and there were a couple of mastering errors on that. One of the tracks was cut in half midway on it and a couple of minutes were missing from the CD. They promised a replacement copy, some lucky fans even got it. I didn't.

The reason why MRS has not released full details for this release (yet?) as opposed to previous outtings is the rift that is going on between MRS and FTD, although Ernst will release GI Blues on FTD at some stage,MRS are going ahead with there project, expect a similar package from MRS as before,cds/book combo.Although most fans will have Cafe Europa/Gi Blues outtakes on quite a few excellent imports from the past this package will offer a chance for a revamped better sounding project.

I think the sound quality on Tulsa Records 5 CD set "Cafe Europa Sessions" is superb, so see no reason to buy this. I'm only interested in the music, don't really care about books etc. I will, however, buy any FTD version just to keep my FTD collection complete.

whethermen. agree with you on sound quality as the imports are top drawer releases and as you will buy FTD to complete your collection up so will alot of fans buy this MRS as i will for the same reason,it may not offer to much new material to me but as collectors i like to keep things complete again as i do with FTD...after all it's what we have been doing for many, many years.

I can't imagine FTD are going to sit sit back and let MRS steal 'GI Blues' sales I wouldn't mind betting that talks are going on at FTD as we speak, the masters and artwork may already be prepared, the only way the mother companies can beat the out of copyright rules is to release the same product in competition to stop them stealing sales, I would always buy the official FTD product because they have access to the original masters and use top notch mastering engineers. Come on Ernst announce the release date so we can put our orders in.

The out of date copyright rules are misinterpreted in some posts. They refer not to the date of the recording but to the date of release of a recording. Hence, if outtakes of a song are officially released for the first time in 2010, they are copyrighted until 2060. Only the original release of G.I. Blues is copyright free.

To ALL fans (especially to Tornado, Steve, Rusty dgirl !) this is A MUST -- I have heard it all and couldn't believe my own ears ... that fabulooooozzzz. EP in great spirits, joking while rehearsing, then all of a sudden getting upset with the genineer...hearing it all... Ten (or more) altern. versions of every songs. Whow...awesome friends. Go out and get it: NOW. Don't believe FTD will be able to release it later...and if they do, they'll do it together with JAT publications i.e. a set of fancy Insiders GI Blues Book plus the 4 CDs....at an exhorbitantly, unacceptable, unfriendly price. Thanks but thks ! Great proofsound quality from the mastertapes themselves (like most FTDs) A true must. I am wondering also when FTD will release the unheard before outtakes of HeTouchedMe album? FYInfo: 5 outts of AmGrace, 11 Bossom, 8 I John, 12 There's God, 19 Reach 4Jesus, 14 Seeing, 9 Thing called L and 6 Lme, Guide Me. As planned in March together with the long awaited Promised Land outtakes perhaps Ernst ??

While the material isnt the greatest, Elvis was in such great voice in 1960, I will buy the FTD when it comes out. I don't buy or support bootlegs or independent labels of any kind.

Fortis,, that will get fans wondering now what MRS have to offer that has not been on imports before,i have spoken to a close co-contributor to the MRS project and i think we are all in for a very nice surprise sound wise and book wise. This is not just a 4cd/book combo of GI Blues etc but a detailed look at Elvis at work on GI Blues, so yes go and get it when it is released in March because FTD are not going to get there version out before as we well know. Will not be surpised if the next FTD cd and vinyl are now delay for some reason and the so called keep the fans informed scenairo has gone out of the window because Ernst and co are a little in dissaray, have always and will be a avid supporter of FTD as they have produced some real gems over the years but do feel they have missed a lot of golden opportunities to bring material out and not hold on to it and think we are all happy about it.

whetherman, I also agree with you, since I also have the superb "Cafe Europa Sessions" from Tulsa Records (the 4 CD + 1 LP version) and the sound is pretty good. You have (I believe) every outtakes, including the instrumental 'Whistling blues'. I can only guess that this release will probably be a straight copy from the previous Tulsa Records release, maybe with an added book. Since I also have the package 'Inside G.I. Blues' from Elvis Unlimited, which contains a book, I can't see myself buying this. For fans who don't have the original release however, this can be a good product to buy. It will also depend on what exactly will be released by FTD. Will they release evrything on 2 volumes (like Jailhouse rock) or will it be a 2 CD/LP set (like Blue Hawaii)? Whatever they choose to do, I will probably buy it as well just to keep my FTD collection up to date. TCB

FTD will get around to releasing a G.I. Blurs "Classic" edition at some point. When they do I will buy that.
