Repeating myself: The Hot August Night on vinyl is actually a milestone release!!! We may be spoiled with several releases from this engagement, but 1969 was one of his greatest years as an artist on stage and in the studio. But this is actually the first ever official release of a Complete 1969 concert on the original format: immaculate vinyl! :-) Thanks FTD, you did listen to me;-) Next up should be one of the two August 1970 concerts. Can't wait for it! :-)

I will be getting this FTD- although it is a 'mixed bag' a good one and hopefully a few special tracks will make it great.

I think the release of "Elvis For Everyone" as a FTD is a good release if only from the standpoint of it being a top 10 LP. Yes, it was a mixed bag of tracks, but in some ways it was something of an anthology that highlighted some very good tracks throughout Elvis' first 10 years with RCA. It was originally scheduled to be a 10th anniversary LP when it was released and RCA and the Colonel should have stuck with that idea instead of trying to pass it off as "new" LP. This LP could have easily been expanded to two LP's back in '65 and included "Harbor Lights", "Cane And A High Star Collar", "I Don't Care If The Sun Don't Shine" (not on an LP at that time), "Plantation Rock", "Tonight's All Right For Love", "Night Life", "Do The Vega", "Britches", "Mess Of Blues", "It Hurts Me", "Just Tell Her Jim Said Hello" and Elvis Sails. A real missed opportunity to celebrate Elvis' career. In 1965, Elvis sound more records than in any year of his career. His new record sales were solid and Elvis backlog continued to sell extremely well.

I'm looking forward to this release. I enjoyed it when I first bought it during the summer of 1965. I knew even back then that it was a mixed bag of songs from various eras, but that didn't stop me from playing it a lot . Most of the songs have now been placed on albums highlighting the sessions that they were recorded during . Still it will be nice to have the original album back in print .This would be a nice place to put the overdubbed version of Santa Lucia . They say there will be a couple of surprises on this FTD release.
