Follow That Dream Updates

July 31, 2008 | Music
Ernst Jorgensen informed fan clubs on the upcoming October Follow That Dream releases; three titles, six discs in total.

The first release is a still untitled soundboard recording from August 1974 in Las Vegas. The opening show will be part of this double CD set in best possible sound quality according to the update.

The second and third releases in October will be double CD versions of "Elvis Country" and "Elvis In Person". All titles are still work in progress, more information will follow as soon as we have it.

I wonder what second concert Ernst picks from Vegas aug 74. I hope he grabs a completely unreleased great concert from the soundboard. I'm looking forward to the ftd Elvis in country cd, hopefully without the I was born about 10000 years ago song as an interruption. Shall we get another unreleased Vegas 69 concert on Elvis in Person?

The opening show! One of his finest performances. Strange atmosphere. A man trying to break out of prison.

Silly me, and I thought this was the long awaited update on the process of the Follow That Dream-website! Why they bought out the guys that kept up followthatdream.com (which used to be a great website) and simply erased everything on it, is totally beyond me, and a total and utter disgrace !

Both "Elvis Country" and "In Person" should be remastered and remixed and "expanded" for Retail sale. (general public) since both are "strong original albums". I think the RCA's plan is, to only release "compliations" such as best of: "Love" "Country" "Live" to the public in the future while the albums, get the "FTD-FANS ONLY-TREATMENT".

Fantastic news. Ernst Please, please, please don't screw these up give them the care they deserve. Country is a classic and In Person really should include another complete vegas show. You never know perhaps he has found some rehersals (i can dream can't I ?)

Good news. Both albums are 2 of my favorites. Elvis Country being his best 70's album (and last really great album) and Elvis In Person being his best live album. That one truly needs to be expanded and I hope its done well.

Excellent 'news' and 3 more FTD's for me to buy for CERTAIN.Obviously like previous FTD's those of us who have access to a large 'Bootleg' collections might find only about 50% of the disc's material as 'new' but any up-grade in sound of the 19.8.74 opening show from the 2 previous outings would be VERY WELCOME and their are so many well sung shows from August 1974 that almost ANY show would give us some very well sung performances. Just about the ONLY negative indication here may well be that by dipping into August 1974 soundboards AGAIN might mean that material from 1971,72 or 1973 might be lacking in the FTD archives which would be a great pity/loss, still i'm NOT going to complain much- as more 1974 is far, FAR better than none and with 1969 + 1970 CD's as well everyone should be more than happy.!

Glad to hear that one of the rarest Elvis concerts (8/19/74) is finally coming out of the shadows. DAE did an excellent job with their 2 CD set. The rehearsal CD has that awesome Jungle Room Session feel to it. The promise of "best possible sound quality" is good enough for me. Not that DAE's release lacked in sound quality, but it's not as good as many of their other soundboards. In Person will be interesting, mainly for the packaging. BMG and FTD has released so many top quality shows from 1969, it's going to be tough to make In Person stand out. The show from the Viva Las Vegas double CD set has set the standard. As for Elvis Country, I'd be happy without the snippets of I Was Born About Ten Thousand Years Ago. What the hell were they thinking back then? Probably the same fool that thought it was a good a idea to fade out and back in Suspicious Minds.

Oeps, got my second warning, did not know that you get a warning when you put to much capitals in a text, strange guys here from this site. But i did want to say the following: For the Country album, I hope FTD put the original album on the first disc (with the mixed I was born about ten thousand years ago) The second disc should content the clean the masters of all the songs without the mix. So you can hear the song "clean" from beginning to end. The song I was born about ten thousand years ago can then be put in whole from beginning to end on it as bonus song. So would be nice if the following bonus songs are on it; 1. I was born about ten thousand years ago 2. A hundred years from now 3. I didn’t make it on playing guitar 4. Where did they go, lord I think only if FTD put it like this on cd maybe 2 discs is not enough when also all the outtakes must appear, well nice job to find out Ernst, if not 3 discs is the alternative. Hmmm, I can hear Ernst thinking,no way... JUST FOLLOW THAT DREAM.."

2 shows from 74? ernst your just getting warmed up right? on tour box set is next right? Cram all the new outtakes you can into Elvis Country,And my guess would be yes a new unreleased show for the in person 2 cd set!

Good news and both are solid albums. I'm Elvis Country will have the original version and 'clean' versions and with outtakes - wow. I'm also looking forward to EIP, i think that should be a two disc set with an unreleased '69 performance on one and the original album in original mix on the other.

By not releasing this to the General Public all they do is shoot themselves, so buy one and just duplicate for your friends, so for eveery one that does not make the stores 10 get duplicated for friends. Ernest you are a Dope.

As Elvis news admins told me by mail, it is very unlikely to get some '69 rehearsals. If there were any recorded material, it was out already...Well, are there any tapes around, ElvisNews hasn't known about, Ernest? ;-)

Hi there, me too, I hope we get the masters complete without the "I was born ..." mixed in between on the new Elvis Country release. Otherwise we still have to go back to the 70's box from 1995, would be sad. Elvis in Person is perfect, finally I get the master of "My Babe" in good sound quality. And hopefully the unreleased live master of Heartbreak Hotel (XPA5-2380) from the Aug. 25 MS. Best would be this complete show, even if we had a lot of the songs on that album before. Or - okay - maybe Aug. 23 DS, where we had no single song yet, wow !
