Thanks but no thanks FTD! Not one of his more outstanding efforts and with all these frivolous outtakes, I think not. I've said this before, but I'm positive now; FTD has run out of importance to the Elvis fan base as far as I'm concerned. Reissues of tracks that have been put out numerous times before is just a con to rip off the die-hard Elvis fan. Enough is enough guys.

As I've said before, a LOT of us want these FTDs. You don't want them, fine but don't argue for their non appearance. Because YOU don't want them, you'd seek to deny others the chance to buy them - which is annoying.

This will be a good one that I have been waiting for. Like Wild In The Country, it will be nice to have all these different takes, many never heard before.

Cruiser621: A con or a rip off is when you are promised one thing and you get another. If you chose to buy this cd you know exactly what you are getting, so there is no rip off! If you do not want it don't buy it. For those who want as much of the music from 'Flaming Star' as possible, this is pretty much as good as it gets. Can you 'discover' more and better outtakes? I do not think so, this is all that's available! Just appeciate what we are offered. Complaining about this release is very unfair to all the people at FTD who put an effort to provide the fans with almost all the surviving recordings of the king. It is not perfect but it is a fantastic effort worth praising rather than simply trying to find flaws, mistakes etc.

Oh no cruiser, you dare say anything negative about ftd, dont you know thats a big no no. Someone gives there vies and acts like ernie will stop putting out releases if he hears anything but praise. I am not interested in these releases, there boring to me,but knock yourself out if your excited. Still no on tour shows, strange in my view!

What a complains again. When we all know thta's there's not much. especially not when there 4 songes are recorded ok 5 but that's was the same but with a different title. And most what we have is in mono. or cut and paste by RCA at that time. And it's much better then Elvis ( second lp 1956) There was not much new on it .

Notice to all glass-half-empty whiners -- The main purpose of this release by FTD is to get one step closer to completing the 'classic albums'. They only have a few more to go. If you want it, buy it and enjoy it. If you don't want it, don't buy it and get over yourself.

As is the case with Elvis' Christmas Album, this release is something I'll probably buy at a later date. Nothing I need right now. Cruiser: You really need to back off of this conned/ripped off rant. We're grownups here. We can read. We know what we're buying. If I choose to buy a certain release it's my choice. My money. I'm not looking for your approval.

Nearly 30 tracks. Not bad for a 5 song soundtrack. One of 2 of my favourite Elvis movies. But ironically that 'Cane and a High Strarched Collar' is probably my worst Elvis song, boy that makes me cringe. Not a song I'd play in front of my friends.

I've been hoping to see this one come true. Along with the other EP's Flaming Star sure was due for a FTD treatment too. The well is running dry, so there's no need to keep the remaining soundtracks in the vaults. Let's have Kissin' Cousins, Roustabout and Speedway as well. Then the remaining movies like LALLAL, TTWG, Charro and Change Of Habit may have their run ala the Double Feature CD way back. One of the best in the series!

I'll be buying this .About time Flaming Star got it's own release with all of the out takes included. I agree that eventually all of the films should get FTD releases such as this including movies like Live A Little, Trouble With Girls etc., that never had them . While were on the subject of movie soundtracks , back in 2009, Sony released retail versions of 8 of Elvis's soundtracks . Perhaps next year they can finish the job and maybe also release C'mon Everybody while they're at it.

Little off topic, but a comment to Lou: I would have hoped Sony could have released the remaining soundtracks like they did in 2009. But, they actually beat me with the complete soundtrack box set. 20 albums were you may find all of the original soundtrack LP's in CD format. Including Kissin' Cousins and Speedway. In addition the South African Jailhouse Rock LP. And a compilation of Flaming Star, Kid Galahad and Follow That Dream. Agree with you on C'mon Everybody. They did I Got Lucky so why not C'mon Everybody?

Burton, this and all ftd's can be ordered from nowdigthis.co.uk. They're the people who do the great Elvis the Man and His Music mag.

I am buying this one, with great sounds and outakes this is exactly why i like FTD. Don't care too much about the Christmas Album though.

Burton, another option is 'theelvisshoplondon.com'.

I'm afraid we fans have to realise that this is probably the last movie soundtrack that will contain that many outtakes. We know that there are very few outtakes of the remaining movies (Speeway, Roustabout, Change of habit, etc.) so this should come as no surprise. FTD will probably release these for those of us who will want to complete their FTD Classic Album collection. The same with the reagular albums (Christmas album) which also do not have many outtakes available. The label cannot add anything they don't have, so it all depends on if it's worth it to you to buy it. I agree with Marty that there is no rip off here. We know what we will be getting with the remaining FTDs: either movie soudntracks with few outtakes, or new unreleased concerts. That's about it! FTD has had a good run, and I am quite happy with the releases so far. Some are better than others (obviously) but the same can be said with Elvis' release in his lifetime: some good albums, some not so good. So enjoy the label while it last. TCB

I can't believe people complaining about this CD. They are blaming FTD for releasing collector's material !? The only minus I see is that again there are some takes and false starts are missing while some takes on here are already available even on other FTD. With Ernst would have left out these duplications and give us the rest on the takes. Ernst always does that and I can't understand why. But that's all I have to complain about. Otherwise as a collector this is exactly my cup of tea.
