Filming Elvis

February 09, 2005 | Other
During the recent Elvis mini-series filming at Graceland, Camryn Manheim, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers and Robert Patrick prepare for a scene. Because a portion of the shoot took place during regular operating hours at Graceland, filming had to occur when guests were not present at the front of the mansion.

Saw a little of the filming of the miniseries on Entertainment Tonight and I must admit I was one of those who wasn't too happy with the choice of the Irishman... but I must offer my apologies to the producers... while no-one comes really close to looking like the King, when he's made up, this guy really does have more than a hint of Elvis in his face... now for the accent!

I have nothing against the man they chose to be king but I don't know if any of you have heard about the show "Elvis story" that has been presented in Canada, France, Japan and in Biloxi, Missisipi a few years ago but the guy who played Elvis in that show had the most uncanny Elvis's look. EPE is even aware of his existence so they should chosen him long before that Jonathan European guy... Nothing personal ! Bye to all !

Do you have more info on this James, like the actors name?

Dear Sean Ryan (and all the others). The guy I'm talking about is not an actor but rather a musician and singer who's also got talents for acting. His name is Martin Fontaine and is the top star of the production "Elvis story" that I'm talking about. I've seen the show more than 10 times and believe you me, I don't think I will ever see something quite like this in my life. For more details go to the website "Elvisstory.com" and let me know your opinion. You can see pictures of the guy and excerpts of the show + many more details, it's really worth the glimpse....

Yes, James, you are right, he looks uncannily like Elvis! I have heard much better sound-a-likes, but I have never seen anyone who looks so much like him! I hope the show comes to the UK!

Hi, James and thanks for the info. It looks quite a good show and very well done. Seen alot of tacky shows in the past that put me off but this one seems to have some credit. The guy does resemble Elvis and out of costume he is just a ordinary guy. Wish all the impersonators would do that. Check out Travis Ledoyt. I think he looks more like Elvis .

This Irish chap looks more like Tom Hanks. EPE should have used the 'Elvis Story' guy Martin Fontaine instead.

Johnny, if you've got a chance to go see him in France, he's currently giving shows until mid March 2005 at le Casino de Paris. I'm afraid he is not scheduled to go In England. I'm writing from Montreal, Canada, he will come here by Spring in April to perform his last shows ever. I will go attend that act for my very last time....unfortunately !

I certainly hope Jonathan Rhys-Meyers doesn't have an English accent while playing Elvis. That would immediately ruin the mini series! (There are foreign actors on our American soap operas that I cannot understand at all!)

He wont have an English accent because his Irish Carol.I dont know what I think of this mini series yet. I dont really like anybody acting as Elvis. I think I will wait and see what the fans say about it before I watch it.
