Faith Hill's "That's All Right" Online

January 30, 2008 | Other

Faith Hill is set to premiere her performance of Elvis Presley’s classic “That’s All Right,” on Wednesday, January 30th. After originally recording both “That’s All Right” and “Peace In The Valley” for “Viva Las Vegas,” a 2-hour ABC Network television special honoring the late singer, CMT began airing “Peace In The Valley.”

But numerous inquiries were made at faithhill.com requesting “Mama,” and now the Grammy Award winning singer will give the video its online premiere, which can only be seen in its entirety as of 11A.M. EST on www.faithhill.com.

“We recorded “Mama” and “Peace In The Valley,” last year in a completely empty arena, in the round and stripped down, said Faith. “It was a blast. We channeled Elvis by setting the stage as if we were back in 1968 (his comeback special). These songs and being a part of the special reminded me of who he was, what he stood for; he defined what it was and is to be an entertainer.”

The “Viva Las Vegas” special, produced in cooperation with Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc, originally aired on September 18, 2007. The special honored Elvis Presley’s legacy and contribution to contemporary music, and featured some of music’s most influential and talented artists, including Celine Dion, Aerosmith, and Paul McCartney.

I have nothing personally against Faith Hill and her own songs, but her version of "Peace in the valley" last September was horrible. She was almost as awful as Celine's appearance on that show. The only version I happened to like was Tobey Keith's Mystery train. So Faith, please give "that's all right" a break...

I didn't see that show, but the version on-line of PITV at Faith's site sounds okay to me. And "That's All Right" can't be worse than what is recently done with it :-)

Both That's Alright and Peace in the valley are in my opinion terrible

Well, I just got the chance to watch and hear Faith's "that's all right" a few minutes ago and believe it or not but I actually liked it. It's quite different from Elvis's but her interpretation is a lot better than "peace in the valley"...not to mention that she's wearing "great" jeans :p

It's a matter of personal taste.I'm probably one of the oldest members ( in age i mean ) of this site.I was a teenager when r 'n' r conquered the world, so I was there when it all happened.I watched the videos and listened to the 2 songs performed by Faith Hill. Well, I think they' really great ! Of course Hill approaches the songs in a different way. She has her own style and her own " colour" of her voice. You can't compair Hill with Elvis, they are two different singers. But one thing is clear : she can sing. She has a powerfull voice and she doesn't sing off-key ! Listen carefully to PITV, sang almost A Capella, with just a hammond-organ and 3 backing vocals in the background. And what's more : she sings not only with her vocal cords, but also with her heart and soul. In my opinion : great lady ! ( and very good-looking too !) Always El.

I'm with you Ben on this one. She wasn't trying to sound like Elvis. She was doing a cover of the song, which I'm sure everyone knows, so did Elvis. She did a great female interruption of the song. I enjoyed it, including the video. Classey lady who didn't try and compete with Elvis in a "duet".

I attended the Elvis tribute concert in Memphis in 1994. Faith Hill sang Mystery Train. Loving the Elvis Sun period so much, I didnt think much of it , but I agree she is doing it her own way and she does have a great voice. One thing for sure, she is a huge Elvis fan. Ive heard her say this many times.

I like That's All Right, but I feel that Elvis' Peace In The Valley is the greatest ever.

benny scott, I'm in accordance with you. Also, with regard to the age ;-))

Hi Aron, I agree with you too ! There's only one Elvis, and there will never be another one. That's why Iam a die hard fan for over more than 50 years now. But I can appreciate other artists as well. Wishing you all the best. Always El.

This is pretty cheesy if I may say so myself Don't get me wrong, I am all for honoring The King, but I just think they are taking the best of him and destroying part of it. This is very well done, and sung well, but I just wish it hadn't happened

Did anyone saw the Shania Twain tribute to Elvis on YouTube? It is under the name: Shania Twain-Elvis tribute. Imo a much better cover of an Elvis song, still Faith Hill is a great and beautiful singer.
