EPE All Shook Up?

February 14, 2005 | Other
Last we week added an update to the site from Yahoo News on an eBay auction for fifty percent of the rights to Elvis' last remaining song "If I'd Only Bought Her Roses". According to the press release EPE was "All Shook Up". The auction was done by Paul Terry King who supposedly co-wrote the song in 1973 and performed it privately with Elvis.

Here is the EPE reaction to our enquiry on this matter:

"The text about Graceland/EPE being upset is baloney. We've had no contact with the sellers and did not know anything about it until fan inquiries started coming in. We ran this by BMG/Ernst Jorgensen when we first heard about it. Their opinion is that it sounds like a scam or at least someone very mistaken about what they have. Hopefully, BMG will check it out further and there'll be a definitive answer about it from them."

IF the recording exists, it's probably "Mama Liked the Roses"

the song exists. its my gut feeling telling me that. and no its no mama liked the roses either. its prolly something he wrote about losing priscilla. or possibly even his ma. heck he was blamed on his mothers death quite alot by vernon. so he figured if he was a poor man instead of being famous and buying graceland for her if he was poor he would still have her if he only bought her roses.

Mofoca22, Post something that makes sense. What are you rambling on about?

Mofoca22, what is that you're drinking?

It might be the water of the vase in which Elvis kept the roses he didn't buy :-)

I'm not quite sure what to make of the last posting, from Mr. King himself. I cannot seem to make sense of what he is trying to say. The latest of the ebay auction is that the bidding is up to $19,100 with six different bidders. They are bidding on a 50% share of a song that no-one in the Elvis world had heard and no recording by Elvis is known to exist. Good luck to them, but I personally would not touch this auction with a barge pole!

In addition to my previous comments, I would also like to make the following observation, the ebay listing states that Elvis was born in 1933!
