Elvis The King – New BMG UK Compilation

June 20, 2007 | Music
In addition to the release of the first of the "Elvis - The King" singles on 13th August, Sony BMG Music Entertainment will also release ‘Elvis The King’: a 2-disc CD companion album. Thirty years on since Elvis Presley’s tragic death, this comprehensive collection of 50 stand out tracks including No.1’s from 2005’s 18 singles campaign, will remind many that he was the King for a very good reason.

According to the press release and promotional banner this could be the cover art.

I'm so glad they are releasing another greatest hits package. The one I bought last week is worn out already. Hope this one has the 'Old Shep' remix on it. That will introduce Elvis to a whole new generation of babies.

This will be one of those rare releases i will buy simply just for the cover! Good heavens, what a brilliant picture of my hero! Don´t care whats on the disc, the picture AND the title ( The King) just says it all!!

This is exactly why people ridicule Elvis fans. Buying a CD for its cover and/or its title. As someone else said on another topic, if the content were Elvis burping the alphabet the fans would buy it because of the cover. The music is secondary to many and thats sad. Its also why the Colonel released ths crap he did over the years and why Elvis didnt grow as an artist beyond what he did. The fans lapped up anything with his name on it.

They don't care what the contant is because it has a nice cover. Where do these people come from? Another greatest hits package? Well I guess it's essential because there must be only about 2 dozen greatest hit packages before this one. Just what we need. NOT!

The record company have done their homework and know exactly who to market this release toward. It is a great cover and believe it or not that will help to sell it. Be thankful that the releases keep coming so long after Elvis' death.

The only one thankful for these endless hit compliations are the labels that keep turning a profit cause folks seem to keep buying. The ultimate hits packages are already out there, 30 #1s, 2nd to None, Hitstory, Greatest Love Songs, etc. When does it end? Besides, everyone on this site is always so soncenred with Elvis getting more gold/platinum awards, when these releases keep coming it waters down the catalog so previous releases cant keep racking up potential sales.

Agreed 100% with those comments, can you imagine a new fan trying to start a Elvis cd collection, although i see many other older artists with many compilations, ive never seen the silly amount that Elvis has, when i first starting buying Elvis cd's back in the early 90's,i had to do some searching just to find All the titles that were original albums,as for gold awards,Hes not here to enjoy it,hes not going to win a grammy, and who really knows about these gold records anymore? just us fans is who,no one cares,if only his music was handled in a way to show him as an artist and not just a greatest hits artist!
