can anyone tell me what was the error on disc 6?
Elvis (profilecontact) wrote on May 17, 2010report abuse
I have received today the CD 6 in replacement of the CD 6 with a defect in the collection. No more error on the song She's Not You. It has take time but it has arrived.
Bob Finkel (profilecontact) wrote on Mar 12, 2010report abuse
Yes, you are right. CD 6 is missing. They shipped the box without the CD 6. I hope, I will receive the good one very soon. The box I think is really nice. The sound quality is good. Not very good, but good. For me a little dream has come true. All songs released during his lifetime on CD, in good quality, together in one box.

Missing CD 6?? Strange because in fact there is a problem with the CD 6 and for everybody but it was not missing for me. Maybe for new orders they have send the collection without the CD 6 in the waiting of the new CD6?. For me they will also send me a new display case and as I am overseas and that the collection was send in US, I will have to pay shipping again from that point in US.
Bob Finkel (profilecontact) wrote on Mar 11, 2010report abuse
I do wait for my replacement -missing CD 6- too. What a shame.

Hello, Does somebody already have received the replacement of the CD 6. Thanks

I have ordered the set but it was cancelled (without any information) because the coupon are not valid for this collection. So I have reordered it at $399 and now everything is ok. I'm just waiting that it arrive here. Happy new year to everybody
santiagisitestar (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 24, 2009report abuse
Thank you so much LonElvis for the info! I was unhappy that I had paid a total of 528.00 for the frankiln set! So I called the mint to complain and they gave me 100.00 off, making it 428.00, (399.00 + shipping) I asked about the coupon code and the woman told me that no coupon would be honored for any set that was 30 pieces or more, and that anyone using it would be denied the discount. Anyway, you just saved me 100.00. Thank you!!
LonElvis (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 19, 2009report abuse
I just ordered the complete set at the lower rate - $399.00! And I used an online coupon (code: XM25) that saved me 25% of my order. So I got every Elvis master for only $299.25 + $29.95 shipping. So the total was $329.20. That's a steal! I'm sure any future BMG set will be atleast twice as expensive. Christmas came early!!! The coupon expires 12/31/09. Merry Christmas to my fellow Elvis fans!
RossCarpenterJr (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 19, 2009report abuse
Dubious the success of such an expensive pack, in my opinion. Why not a "re-make" of the 50s, 60s and 70s Master Boxes, with an extra box containing the missing songs that are still due to us in order to make it complete. Also more unreleased outtakes of those hits (that's what BMG wants to promote anyway, right ? so that people buy the hits over and over again). Bring an extra CD in the 50s Box and the same for the 60s and 70s Box! Fans will buy it again and get rid off their older boxes; ONLY if the quality is IMPROVED though. Many fans will be buying it again I'm sure and Ernst+Roger will be happy with more sales than this 'incomplete' Franklin Masters Collection Box of Elvis' recordings !

Iray, thanks for the clarification on both versions of "Doncha Think It's Time" in the list. I just overlooked the other version of it the first time I scanned the list above. I still don't see the 68 Comeback songs from the Legendary Performer Vol 1 & 2 in this track listing. Anyway, I still think it's a fine collection.
lray (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 12, 2009report abuse
I agree great collection with great sound. I found both versions of Doncha Think It's Time. One is on the first CD and the other is on the last.
LonElvis (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 12, 2009report abuse
I don't understand the negativity from some of you. This box set is a wonderful gift and I will purchase it after Christmas - probably on the monthly plan so I can look forward to 3 CDs per month all year long. This is hardly a mistake. Just think - all original masters released during Elvis' lifetime in one complete set (in remastered sound)! That's a wonderful thing and I for one am very appreciative of it. This is a dream come true in my opinion.
RossCarpenterJr (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 12, 2009report abuse
Doomed to give bad sales results....at $500....you gotta be kiddin' BMG and Franklin Mint (known for its silver/gold coins)....Incomplete selection of great hits; too bad. Another big BMG mistake (maybe Sillerman needs all the licensing money he can get to repay his debts with Credit Lyonnais Bank...zillions of $) but why did EPE approved of such a product ? Southern bad markting boys ! You could make more money by releasing the missing movie FTD digipacks.. KCreole, etc etc !
KTemple (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 10, 2009report abuse
The way they have the songs set up is wrong in my opinion, as I said earlier it should be album by alum or better yet chronilogicaly. Suppose you want to hear a random song, you could be looking for it for a long time within these cds.
JerryNodak (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 9, 2009report abuse
You didn't miss them. They're not there. Honestly, I won't miss them. It will be interesting to see exactly what is on the Sony set and how it's put together. But IF I buy one of these two super sets it will be this one because this set is at least priced on the fringes of what my budget can afford. Don't know what Sony will charge for theirs, but it won't be cheaper.
Dixieland Rock (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 8, 2009report abuse
I may have missed them in the above list, but I do not see the 68 Comeback songs that were on "Elvis A Legendary Performer Volume 1 & 2" albums. Therefore this collection could not be called "complete" since these tracks were also issued in E.P.'s lifetime. There was 2 versions of "Doncha Think It's Time" released. I only saw one of them. I think this is a FINE collection, but it's not "complete". Still an incredible collection.
Rejane (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 8, 2009report abuse
Well I think the package is attractive and I'm glad they are giving fans two different ways to buy it. I for one can't spare the money in good conscience because I own all of these tracks already. I also don't mind the way the tracks are arranged because I do believe it offers more variety than some of the re-packaging we've already experienced. It will be a long time before I buy I Believe or Elvis 75 simply because FTD releases about 12 new Cd's every year and at a cost of $30 each that gets a little spendy! I'd rather spend my money on a track I already don't own but I keep wondering when they are going to decide they've released them all?
derekd (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 7, 2009report abuse
Great collection for non Elvis fans with £300+ to spend on starting an Elvis collection. I've looked at every Cd on the list and noticed that i have every recording on other Cd's. This is great news for me,,, i've just saved £300.
burton (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 7, 2009report abuse
Take the words "OFF" and "RIP" & rearrange to a suitable sentence. There's nothing new or unissued, just a way to shift unsold old stock & squeeze the last buck out of the Elvis fans. $599 (£300) I think not.

So, are we going to get this little package in the UK, & if so, how much!? I would imagine being Franklin Mint that we will get it here. But someone does really need to ask Ernst if this is the set he's been working on, or not. Either way, I must say I rather like the record case box!
KTemple (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 7, 2009report abuse
It would have been better to have the songs in sequence as to when they were recorded than having the random selections on the cd's with silly names on each cd. I've done my own project on this anyway.....
Mystery Rider (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 6, 2009report abuse
Tell Me Why, no not the song buy why should anyone who is a real Elvis collector want to own this, its like watching TV in the Summer just Re-peats, as for Thats all Right, the best sound is the original sound on 45 or 78 with the original SUN Hiss, thats they way it was first played, and should have remained that way.
Judy_Fairytale (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 6, 2009report abuse
In reply to Natha: I also bought the 50cd set about 7 years ago. I don't think I can afford to buy this one which is a shame as there are quite a few songs on here that aren't on the other set, eg. Mama Liked The Roses. I dread to think what Sony will charge for their box set next year... a fortune I expect!
Lefty (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 6, 2009report abuse
Wow! I'm not going to fork out upwards of $500 for this package. Too many songs I'll never listen to and too many songs I already own. That being said, it's nice to see Elvis music as a viable product again...This far exceeds an Elvis Christmas Ornament, a stale concert soundboard, or the infamous bathtub rubber duckie. Well, maybe it's not as good as the costume sunglasses, complete with sideburns, but you get the idea. Anway, it seems suspicious to me that Sony would turn around sometime in 2010 and release anything similar to something this large in scale. If they do, I'd be smokin' furious if I was one of the license guys at The Franklin Mint. For those of us outside of the US, let me confirm something Jerry Nordak stated earlier, The Franklin Mint is a bonefide, legit company, dealing in collector quality items. They've been around for years.

Interesting way to put down Elvis' songs in theme packs. Looks ok with me. Sometimes its exciting to hear the songs in other than historical relations. Might buy this for my kids. The guy who wrote down this massive playlist must be a very patient man ;-)

This set is being released through the Franklin Mint and endorsed by Priscilla. I assure you this IS a legitimite, licensed set. The Franklin Mint does not deal unlicensed merchandise.
joemin (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 5, 2009report abuse
Is this a legitimate licensed set? If so I will certainly be buying. This is the proper way to organise the catalogue. I have suggested doing things this way for years, but I would have perhaps dropped it to about 600 songs. Hopefully it will sell over 30,000 copies. I think these albums should also be put on sale individually afetr a period of time and allow people gradually build their collection.
JerryNodak (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 5, 2009report abuse
For what it's worth according to posts on another Elvis website this is NOT the Sony collectors set.
If I were to buy a set of this type it would be this one. Why? Well, because the price is at least maginally affordable to my financial situation. If you think this set is expensive wait until Sony reveals their price tag. You'll probably have to go without food for several months to afford it.
Ruthie (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 5, 2009report abuse
I can't comment on quality since I haven't heard it, but I have a friend who is a new Elvis fan & she is beside herself trying to get this box set. Hopefully, I can help her since anything from Franklin Mint is expensive. Meanwhile, not all 711 recordings are "classics" but that's quite a musical record any way you look at it. And let me add that EPE is starting to listen. I am not endorsing them nor do I necessarily agree with them but, while on the Elvis cruise, the top dogs of EPE were there & had a forum designed for fans to let them (EPE) know what they liked, what they didn't like & what they would like. It was quite informative & I think they are trying. It's not always as easy as we think it is to produce what we want. They don't have the complete control over many products, including CD's & DVD's, that one would think. And that goes for Priscilla & Lisa, too. Sometimes, it is just a matter of time.

jean michel (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 5, 2009report abuse
until i am proven wrong , i still dont think this is the 'complete works' set scheduled by SONY for 2010.
adiels (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 4, 2009report abuse
OK, so this is a set with all masters... And I really like it! I think that a lot of tought has been put into dividing the tracks, and they actually have done a great job. The CD titles are right on the money. Yes, we all have the songs many times on CDs in our collections, but I really like that they have the titles refering to the actual tracks like never before... And to answer Steve V, I have Hound Dog on 601 CDs up to date...
Sirbalkan (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 4, 2009report abuse
The cd art is really really bad. those colors behind elvis' image with cd imaga is crap.I really wonder if they hired a graphic designer for thier company or not. Sony and EPE never listen to fans. Colonel was very good about giving. He knew what to give to fans.. the things fans want to see! Priscilla and Lisa... please wake up !!!
Steve V (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 4, 2009report abuse
I think I will set a goal. Count how many times Hound Dog will be re-released in 2010.
Mathias (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 4, 2009report abuse
The worst is yet to come!

If you think this is the worst release, I had to disappoint you, it’s just beginning. 2010 will be the biggest Elvis year we have ever seen, commercially and maybe last big Elvis year for a long time. At the end of the year most of us will be exhausted, fed up and broke by all the merchandise, books and recordings to be released, official und unofficial. All that care about Elvis image as an serious Artist will be suffer from great pain all year long,

Back to the topic! Wow, twice as expensive as a Beatles Box Set, but nearly 3 times more CDs, that’s what I call a bargain. This is typical Franklin Mint kitsch! Possibly aimed to the “All American Housewife”! Take some Valium and some Wine, put on Elvis that’s just fine. Look how colourful all the Discs are, and isn’t he handsome. But wait, authenticity certified by his grieving widow Priscilla. She must know what’s good, since she is such a profound and acknowledge authority when it comes to Elvis and his recording legacy. This is Mass instead of Class!

But let’s get serious: You don't have t worry that this Set is only available in the U.S. If the first wave of the upcoming Soundtracks and Classic Albums through Sony’s Special Products will be successful, then Sony will release all U.S. lifetime Albums in 2010. Exceptions are only the compilations. Each digitally re-mastered by Vic Anesini using DSD-Technology. Furthermore Sony is working on an exclusive Download deal for the Master Recordings; this will be announced officially in a short while. There are also plans for an EP Box Set of all his original Extended Play Recordings on CD. Similar to the Single Box Sets, we got a few years back. But there’s no actual release date at the moment, just plans to do so.

It’s my biggest fear, that with all countless releases and re-releases coming up next year, the few quality products that will the see the light of day will be drawn in a flood of Mass over Class releases and that all the crap will hurt Elvis’s image and recording legacy more than ever before!
livingstonsn (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 4, 2009report abuse
I'm not honestly seeing a lot here that would cause me to rush out and grab this. The accompanying book is only 25 pages, which is miniscule for a project of this magnitude. Since these are the masters released during Elvis' lifetime, how does that bode for the Elvis Country tracks? Will they be sans the fade-ins/fade-outs or will they be "clean" masters? At least one of the Sun tracks ("Tomorrow Night") appears to have mid-60s overdubs. Also, "Unchained Melody" was not part of the Graceland sessions. The only plus would be that some of the soundtrack songs may actually sound better than the FTD releases of the same songs. But, honestly, does it really matter how good "Petunia, the Gardner's Daughter" sounds? Is it really worth 500 bucks for you to have it (along with "Clambake", "Confidence", "Chesay", etc) in "optimum sound quality"? It seems to me that a huge opportunitiy was missed with this collection.
Natha (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 4, 2009report abuse
As a die-hard Elvis fan (since mid sixties) you might not expect this from me, but I only discovered the elvis CDs in 2002! I could lay my hands on the 50 CD set. I was thrilled as until that moment I had only LPs and a few cassettes (home made). Yes I was out of the West for some time. Maybe some other people will discover Elvis, or like me realise that they can collect the whole official works. But I am not so sure the sales will be spectacular. The 50 CD box was originally released a long long time ago (mine = second hand). I still meet a number of old fans who do not realise what has been released in the last 10 years. So . . . it may meet the need of not unnaturally obsessed fans. And yes Jerry Nodak, the theme-idea is much better.
theoldscudder (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 4, 2009report abuse
I'm looking at the pictures on the discs. All images Iv'e seen many times before. For the price they charge couldn't they provide unreleased pictures? I think it's an expensive bloated item. Only those fans that are unnaturally obsessed with the King will buy it.
JerryNodak (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 4, 2009report abuse
At the price they're charging this isn't likely to be bought by any general fan. This will be bought by FANS well aquainted with his music and how it developed. I like the idea of themed discs. It gives the music a 'fresh' feel instead of the same old he walked into SUN and recorded... followed by... Then he left Sun and went to RCA and recorded...followed by... I've been listening to Elvis since '56. I know the chronology. I find that approad boring!
drjohncarpenter0117 (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 4, 2009report abuse
With box sets like these and we all have many in our collections over the years why do they (Franklin) give each disc a 'silly name'...just look at some of them and you will see what i mean. Also why cannot the track listing be in the order they were released and not a compo style disc, this would give the general listener or fan a chance to listen to the developement of how music changed through the years, not that we need reminding. Each track has been 'REMASTERED'....how many times will this be used on projects like these and in the future......to be perfectly honest we have enough releases through the years which are just as good and sometimes it's nice to listen to a old vinyl and the sound of the era......remember mono??....Not sure if this is for me as i would prefer to spent my money on material i still need, concerts etc....but would not be surpised if one day i end up with it in the collection.
JerryNodak (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 4, 2009report abuse
Where's "Dominic?" Did my eyes just miss it running through the track list? Also, "Live From Memphis" doesn't contain all the songs. Bummer.
Orion (profilecontact) wrote on Dec 4, 2009report abuse
When you look at the track listing for each of these discs, it's incredible how many amazing performances are on each. Even as far as the soundtracks, I am sure everyone can find a few winners on there. That's why were still here 30 + years after his passing. Although I agree, the whole "remastered" lingo is getting a bit overused. Will I buy it - I doubt it since I've already purchased all of these songs numerous times already. However, I will continue to buy the classics on FTD just for the session outtakes and the undubbed masters.

Interesting song groupings! Re "Dominic", I don't think this was released during his lifetime. And it has to be said that with few exceptions, anything Elvis sang had some merit, even 'Dominic'! 'Critics' drone on & on about the soundtrack songs, but have a listen to the "filler" tracks on Cliff's soundtracks for instance, & you'll realise just what a great voice Elvis had!!
