Elvis Scores A Hit From The Grave

June 10, 2002 | Music
With the single coming out Elvis gets a lot of attention from the press for the release of "A Little Less Conversation" on June 10th. The line of most articles is "Elvis Presley could be about to rewrite the record books with the release of a forgotten track - 25 years after his death" and the "contest" with the Beatles for the most (U.K.) No. 1 hits. Expectations are high, but Elvis faces tough competition from Kylie Minogue, who launches another chart assault today with 'Love At First Sight'. He'll also have to see off the tough incumbent Will Young who entered the charts at No. 1 with his version of 'Light My Fire' yesterday.

There was also a nice quote from JXL on the Beatles "contest". "Junkie is my nickname. My friends gave it to me because I used to spend so much of my life in the recording studio." "But Elvis' estate did not want any connection with the word Junkie so I respected their wishes." The track has been given exposure after being included in the Nike World Cup "cage" ads, featuring Eric Cantona. JXL added: "It's weird to think I could be responsible for Elvis making chart history. I hope I don't end up upsetting too many Beatles fans."
