Elvis Presley Wines Rocking New Jersey

June 07, 2004 | Other
Here is a press release from Signature Wines on the Elvis Presley wines that are available in retail outlets in new Jersey.

Hayward, California, June 7, 2004. New Jersey wine lovers and Elvis fans will "rock the house" at the announcement that California-based Signature Wines has launched the Graceland(R) Cellars line of Elvis Presley(R) brand wines in the Garden State. The first-ever vintages of Jailhouse Red Merlot, The King Cabernet Sauvignon and Blue Suede Chardonnay are available at select New Jersey wine retailers immediately.

"We are very proud of the wines we have created to honor the King of Rock and Roll," said Scott Cahill, CEO of Signature Wines. "Our wineries have worked hard to put the same care into our wines that Elvis put into his music. We think fans of wine and Elvis will agree."

The 2002 Blue Suede Chardonnay features enticing citrus, pear and floral aromas. Light, toasty oak with hints of butter and vanilla on the finish complete a very balanced wine which is a great companion to light seafood, salads and pasta dishes. The 2002 Blue Suede Chardonnay is available for a suggested retail price of $11.99.

The 2001 Jailhouse Red Merlot is young and lively, with aromas of berries and fresh herbs. Oak aging is evident from toasty vanilla flavors and the supple tannins of a classic Merlot. The wine is medium-bodied and great by itself or paired with roasted pork or grilled meats. The Jailhouse Red recently won the gold medal at the 2004 International Eastern Wine Competition in Corning, New York. The 2001 Jailhouse Red Merlot is available for a suggested retail price of $11.99.

The 2001 The King Cabernet Sauvignon is an approachable cabernet with a brilliant red color. Lush, ripe fruit is redolent of black cherry, currant and blackberries. Subtle oak flavors with a hint of spice leads to a smooth finish, perfect for grilled steaks, hearty stews or wild game. The 2001 The King Cabernet Sauvignon is available for a suggested retail price of $11.99.

Elvis Presley Graceland Cellars wine is available through Fedway Associates, Inc. and its affiliated companies: Federal Wine & Liquor, Jersey National / Capital, Gateway-Perrone Distributors Co., Los Andes Wine Company, and Washington Selections.

Elvis never drank wine! Just as the dog accessories: what´s got it to do with Elvis? Not a whole lot. It is actually an idea from Colonel Parker from the worse days of the past but that doesn´t seem to bother EPE. Coming This Fall To A Theatre Near You: ´Sweetend Through The Ages Just Like Wine - A-Tacky-Rip-Off-Love-Story-That-Was-Only-Made-For-The-Money-Just-As-The-Elvis-Wine-Now-Available-(Also works great as anti-freeze screenwash in your car!)´Starring: Leslie Nielson and Priscilla Presley Also coming: `Elvis Presley´s 7/11´ - A great supermarket near Graceland where you can buy all the food and drinks that have no relations to or with Elvis Whatsoever!. This store will be a great addition to our Elvis Presley Pet Store and Elvis Presley´s Marineland!

Viva el vino (to all you "Fun in Acapulco" fans)! My sister is a diehard Elvis fan, too, and her birthday's this week -- guess I'll have to check out some Jersey liquor stores while I'm at the Shore. Cheers!
