Elvis On Tour Sessions Import DVD

August 31, 2005 | Video
Recently outtakes from "On Tour" started to circulate among fans (and on the WWW). Now the first real import DVD with this material has been released. This release contains unreleased outtakes from "Elvis On Tour". According to the info we found on the FECC site "this stuff will blow you away ... great quality ... the DVD offered here is from the original source and is without any numbers, counters, etc."

It contains studio takes of "Burning Love", "Big Hunk O Love" and "Proud Mary", Elvis clowning around in the studio and a dressing room in San Antonio throwing a glass of water on Marty. In other dressing room scenes he's trying on an oversized tie, is discussing different aspects of the show and even recieving two gold record awards. Meeting a cancer stricken child on board the bus and so much more!

Fantastic news! But is is every unreleased outtakes that are known? And what region is this dvd?

It's a bootleg, so it will not be region coded. Going by the track listing, it looks to be just a selection of what is thought to exist, although we have given been given a definitive list of what exists. I have a copy on order, which I eagerly await. Hopefully the quality will be good. Many hours of TTWII out-takes are for sale on ebay, again I await the product so can not judge the quality as yet.

I received my copy of these recordings on Saturday, along with 11 discs of TTWII out-takes. I would grade the quality of the EOT recordings as 9/10. They are full frame and have a small timecode at the bottom of the screen which does not spoil the recordings at all. There are multiple takes of "Burning Love" from the rehearsal sessions as well as many other unseen clips. The quality of the TTWII recordings is slightly less, 8/10. These are all widescreen and contain many alternative performances and extended rehearsal scenes. Many of the performances are incomplete, due to the nature of the filming. This can be frustrating, but in my opinion it is better to have part of a song than none of it.

I tried finding the one pictured but was unable too. So my source who I get a lot of things from has it the first 50 minutes with no counters on the screen of the 90 minutes of footage. So this one is called Elvis on tour outtakes vol. 1 and he is going to sendme the other 40 minutes vol.2 when it comes in. He usually always has the best quality on every thing I get from him and looking at ebay I am gonna say I paid half of what most people did for vol1 and 2 we got the same thing but mine is not here yet so I can't give a quality report. I will keep every one up to date on the best copies if possible.

One of the most touching moments among this footage is the short clip of Elvis talking to the child with cancer and signing her poster. This bit should have made the original film without a doubt. Since my last posting when I commented on the high quality of the DVD, I have received numerous e-mails enquiring where I got this release from. I am happy to reply with the details, but please do not ask me to copy this material for you. This DVD is readily available to all and I believe that the people behind bringing us such gems should be supported.
