Elvis On Tour 2 DVD Set In 2007?

August 12, 2006 | Video
From a posting of the For Elvis CD Collectors Message Board: Tom Brown of Turner Classic Movies was on the George Klein show this afternoon as he is in Memphis for the Elvis Insiders convention. He stated that they did TTWII-SE in 2001 and that someday he wanted to do the same for Elvis On Tour. He went on to say he wanted it to be a 2 DVD set with the first being the original and disc 2 being all the other concert footage along with all the backstage stuff plus interviews from the people that were there. He then stated that maybe they could get it out for next year.

He also told GK that he had a 58 minute audio tape of EP talking about his career from the film and he would like to get that out also. George Klein said he would like to have that audio tape and TB said he would have to talk to him about that off-air.

Until now only have the announced single disk edition from Germany.

I hope Tom Brown is telling the truth and is going to held this statement for a 2007 release of "on tour". it would be an absolute delight to have all these stuff on (a legal) dvd finally! it's about time, because all elvis fans all over the world are waiting for this for years now. I can't wait to see and have this fantastic and upcoming dvd! At this moment a only have a copy on dvd from Tcm I recorded some years ago.

So, if he wants to get "all the other concert footage and backstage stuff and interviews etc" on DVD 2 than this DVD 2 must be a 250 GB harddrive. Remember the photo of the producers of EOT standing in front of a rack filled with 50 videoboxes? Can't wait to get this magic 2nd DVD.

Hopefully the original That's The Way It Is film will also, sometime, be released as well on dvd. But man, I'm gonna buy this Elvis On Tour dvd set when it will be released. Thanks Tom!

Elvis On Tour was good and is still good and I definately want it. ETTWII was of-course Elvis at his best but we've enough of this movie. So MORE of ELVIS ON TOUR on DVD please..

I've read rumors floating around that EOT may see the light of day next year...but I'm not holding my breath or getting excited until I see a press release from Warner Bros. about the movie being released. If they do it "like TTWII-SE" it may wind up being a disaster....think about it.....

JTH, original That's The Way It Is film was released on DVD back in 1998 by MGM.

Would be fantastic news if this happens. I just hope that they would also do an expanded version of "Elvis - That's The Way It Is", maybe also a 2 or 3 disc set. 1 disc with rehearsal material and 1 with the best of the concert footage (or possibly a 3rd disc with a complete concert from this engagement, if one was film in full).

Wow - I hope so. I think both TTWII & EOT should be released in deluxe 3 DVD boxset editions. Disc 1 - the orig movie, Disc 2 - rehearsal footage, Disc 3 - Remaining best of concert footage. The fans deserve deluxe releases of these films much in the way the TV Specials were released last year.

This would be great for the Elvis world to get this released on DVD with extra material. We've been waiting for this long enough, it's time to get it released!

This is great new. - it will be best to have a 2-3 dvdset of EOT. Lets see what happens . - cant wait for this to come out . its long over due now .-

Like always, the DVD will be released in a strategic moment, which means waiting. besides that a lot of interesting stuff won't be included because of 'inaccessibility'

Please... Do release the complete "Hampton Concert" as Dvd, not St. Antonio Concert. Hampton Concert shows a real Elvis put a lot onto the show.

I am sure that this Special-Edition-EOT-DVD will be there on the market in 2007. They just have to bring that out for us...as we are urging for such Elvis-material !!! That would be a great gift....and please Tom Brown, don't wait to long for the next...the TTWII-DVD ...thanks

personally,,,, i think "On Tour" has some of Elvis' best performances. it is one of my favs of Elvis. Maybe my very fav. Need to cut out all the filler stuff, like the did on TTWIS, but i love the songs and E's voice so much here. i really love him so much during this time of his career. i think it is underratted by many fans and critics alike

I hope I am very wrong but reading what they said " I would like to do the same with EOT someday" doesnt sound like its in the very near future. however lets all pray to go that it will be released and not cut short I want every minute of concert footage that is available if it is a 10 disc set and high quality and set-up properly who cares if it costs a little more god knows we have waiting long enough.

I think the issue here is, as always, money. I'm not sure who stands to profit from this release (Turners? Warners?) but to make the most profit they have to keep costs down whilst giving us a product we all want and not having spend too much money on royalty fees (remember how songs were cut from the first Aloha DVD's). I would imagine the best we can hope for would be a 2 disc edition with the original movie plus the additional concert footage, if we are lucky. I would love to see a multi disc set with all footage available, but I am sorry to say, I think we will be 'drip fed' starting with the original movie plus one disc. Then the following year they can release even more footage on a 'revised edition' and so on 'till it's all released. Even now we are denied access to the TTWII '2nd' disc that was slotted for release with the revised edition of the film. You can be sure that these multi national companies will only go for the most profitable options, for them, this is about money and not about us Elvis fans. Sad, but true.

I think we'll see "Elvis On Tour" eventually, but until then, I advise all fans in the (if they haven't already) to go out and try to find a copy of the Star label's "Through My Eyes" 2-DVD set, which includes all of "Elvis On Tour" but also many outtakes, including those from "The Lost Performances" and also other escapes of this material, such as those rehearsals when he worked on "Burning Love," etc. It's a great, even definitive "Elvis On Tour" set. Look around and you'll find it but, per the rules, *don't* ask about how to get it here. I also have tracked down a DVD-R of the original "Elvis On Tour" (when I want to see that one) made from the Laserdisc version that was once released. Great stuff!

the sales of ttwii were not good because of one reason and one reason only, they showed it on tv before the release in the stores.lets face it people cut corners and always cant afford things so the tape it.i think any footage from eot should be appreciated and not just from any concert. id like to know why the audio cd of hampton doesnt ever have "i got a women".it was cleary taped because we have it in the film. as for it being underrayed,by who? the film did win a golden globe award so i think the critics knew its worth.
