The BBC "Radio Times" featured Elvis on the cover for the 25th Anniversary. But the editor back then made a derogatory remark about Elvis's sideburns.....a bit of a Schmelviser? Nevertheless welcome sight on the newstands.

What did he say about the sideburns ? I must say they did get a bit much..they were great in "Change Of Habit" after that they got out of hand.

It's very easy to look back and laugh at Elvis' sideburns, but at the time most people had them, including myself I have to say. Combined with flared trousers they make any photographs of myself from thirty years ago something to remain hidden away!

I bought the "Radio Times" yesterday for the first time since the 25th anniversary edition, yet on looking at the contents page, what does it have to say about the up-coming new documentary? "Beyond the booze, bloating and bling......" Question 1: From where does the British media get this odd idea that Elvis had a problem with alcohol?? Problems he had aplenty, but I've read enough and heard enough from Charlie Hodge et al to know booze was not one of them, yet there it is in print - again. Question 2: Exactly who is Derek Johnson? I became a fan in 1969, when I recall there were 2 "must have" music papers, "Record Mirror" and "NME". I almost always bought the "Mirror" as NME rarely, if ever, had a good word to say about Elvis. I can't find one article in my scrapbooks from the NME written by anyone called Derek Johnson. We're supposed to believe that Elvis told this person all about Priscilla when he was in Germany when at his "welcome home" press conference at Graceland in 1960 he suddenly found something interesting on his shoes when asked the question, and denied there was "anyone special". Priscilla telling the Colonel off and being congratulated by Elvis? The Colonel not booking Elvis any "live work" until 1969 so the newly weds could be together? Yeah right! Who is this guy??
