Don't you get tired of your own rambling?

OurKing4life: How Great Thou Art is the FTD I'm waiting for. More than any of the others you mention.

OurKing4life The only thing I'm waiting for is a 5'7" redhead (female). Looks like both of us are not getting our wishes.

Hello, re OurKingForLife's opening response - there seems to be plenty in the 'How Great Thou Art' archive but the other suggestions seem less promising. I don't think we'll see much more, if anything, that's new from the 'Elvis' (1956) sessions. And I've a horrible feeling that the existing BMG CD of 'King Creole' might prove to be inclusive - unless they polish up incidental filler like 'Turtles, Berries and Gumbo'. Out-takes released from 'Roustabout' are one each of the title track and 'Little Egypt' and the long-lost 'I'm A Roustabout' song (do correct me if I'm wrong). Maybe they're sitting on some extensive archival material but it's not clear. I think 'Kissin' Cousins' and 'Speedway' are similar, ie, it's debatable how much unreleased material is in the pantry. My feeling is that we've probably had the lion's share of the Elvis archive, that we might feel fortunate there was an archive at all (we had no divine right to expect treasures like the 'Jailhouse Rock' sessions in stereo to exist), and that we'll have to be philosophical about the tragic loss of out-takes of classics such as 'Hound Dog' and 'Don't Be Cruel'. It's not like we're short of great music!

Unfort - The best of Elvis' recordings, the 50's (sorry 70's fans), most outtakes were destroyed. Imagine how great outtakes of Hound Dog, Don't Be Cruel, Don't, etc. would be. His creative genius at its peak. I don't feel the need to hear outtakes of his creative genius at its lowest, e.g. Kissin Cousins, Speedway. They should lose those forever! I probably will never buy another FTD unless they unearth some 50's or early 60's treasures or find a live show prior to 1969. I will not shell out 35.00 for music I already have just to hear a few new inferior takes on songs. I play the masters basically and for sound you cant beat the Japanese CD editions of the orig albums. FTD is a great cash cow for folks on this website.

Just regarding outtakes from Speedway, didn't Ernst buy the sessions in stereo from the bootleggers a few years back? I can remember reading this on a number of Elvis sites. He may have even said this in a interview aswell. But I definitely remember reading this.
