Billboards around the Memphis region now announce that “Elvis Lives.” It’s all part of the 2005 marketing and licensing campaign that was just introduced. Find out more in the news section of the official Elvis site at Elvis.com.

I will be driving to Memphis for BW and I can't wait to see these new billboards. I love the look of this new campaign and yes, ELVIS LIVES!

Although the design looks great, it surprises me that most outings from EPE only use silhouettes of Elvis, but no pictures. There is no Elvis on the Aloha and Comeback DVD set and this promotion doesn't show a real Elvis either.

Kees, as far as "business" is concerned, Elvis is now a trademark, a copyrighted "entity". Since the real flesh and blood ELvis left the building 27 years ago, what we have are all the wonderful performances/memories of him on audio and film. I imagine they are marketing the "idea" of Elvis, therefore they will use only symbolic silhouettes that recall Elvis. This also makes it easier to market him, I imagine, otherwise we'd all end up arguing as to which pitcures they should use (50s, 60s,70s). This way, the symbolic silhouetted Elvis appeals to everyone. This is what I suspect, anyway. What do you think?
