The only surprise in this list is UB-bloody40 and that dreadful song from Alannah Miles. Bleugh!!! I think people assume My Way is quite an easy song to sing - the same with Neil Diamond songs. I'm not saying they are though, especially when you hear them being murdered on stage by terrible singers. These are mostly crowd pleasing songs, the ones with bouncy rythyms and easy to remember lyrics that can be howled along with by drunken pub goers. My own guilty pleasure to bang out is It's Now Or Never though. :D

We are all at least a little fanatic i guess,as for my way i still prefer the 77 version overall, but do agree the studio version is too slow,i have never played it much!

Off-topic but what 'get's my goat' on this site is when people take offence when someone say's Elvis is the best. People throw around the term 'fanatic' as if it's an insult. I'm an Elvis fanatic and a Manchester United fanatic and PROUD to be so. Anyway, i very very rarely karaoke but if I do it's Hound Dog. Something I can hide my shocking voice behind by 'entertaining' instead! TCB

No mature you are certainly not crazy. I like the Elvis Aloha version of My way better than all of them. Not a big fan of the 77 version, he sounds tired and his timing is off on the last note. The Elvis studio version is just plain boring to me. Glad it wasnt released when it was recorded. The Sinatra version is better than this.

(im worried)

I just HATE it when karaoke singers sing Elvis songs! "Are You Lonesome Tonight" seems to be the favorite song to butcher in this area (Southeastern Ohio/West Virginia, USA).

This is what gets my goat about some fans on this site. To say Franks version of My Way is flat & boring is just plain narrow-minded and it says something about how fanatical Elvis fans are about anything involving another performer. Elvis obviously liked Frank's version or he never would have sung it. Frank did pour his heart into it and it became a worldwide hit for him. It may not be better than the Aloha version (its better than the 1977 In Concert version) but it is a great record. Fabulous production.

When it comes to karaoke, the most popular songs will be what the average person (sober or otherwise) can sing. It doesn't usually matter to them who actually was better at recording it. Yes, I do think Elvis did a great version of My Way but it was initially written for Sinatra who put his heart & sould into his version. I think that's why it has become his song. As for Sweet Caroline, all I can say is Lord Have Mercy! In my humble opinion, Neil Diamond is one of the most boring, monotonous singers of all time & I didn't like this song at all until ELvis sang it. I don't mean to offend Diamond fans. He is very popular but I am just saying that I did fall asleep during one of his concerts.

The King's version of My Way is by far the best but in tems of 'who's' song it is I doubt if anyone outside of us know Elvis sang it. It'll always be classed as a Frank Sinatra song-unfortunately. Also Elvis' Sweet Caroline is the best as well. The 'woh ha ho' inbetween parts make it (very technical by me,i know!) TCB

Sinatra's version was flat and boring. Elvis' live version was soulful and filled with passion.

Even though Elvis may have had the better version of My Way, it was a 'live' version and the Sinatra studio version is the standard. I think if you polled the general public, the song is more identified with Sinatra by far. It became his signature song practically. It became an Elvis hit mostly because it was released so close after his death. Infact, it used to be in the top 500 songs of all time for a while on our annual radio station survey. Now it does not appear anymore but Frank's still does.

Actually alot of people think of sinatra when you mentioned My Way,i think Elvis version was much better, best version being from june 77,by the way whats the next poll, the top 10 songs people sing in the shower?

That's imrpessive! I figured ALLC or Hound Dog would be the two considering how worldly recognized in the pulic eye they are. But The Wonder Of you? Didn't see that one coming. Suspicious Minds is very recognized as well so there's really not much of a surprise there. I think most people associate My Way with Elvis than they do Sinatra. After all Elvis had the better chart success with the song.
