Elvis In Concert Has Left The Building

August 20, 2007 | Other
While band members had hinted this would be case during their shows "downunder", it is now official. Priscilla Presley announced that the EW 2007 performance of "Elvis In Concert" was the last series. While the earlier show was a sell-out, the midnight show during EW 2007 was not.

Having went to the 30th concert I am a little surprised the second show was not a sellout. It had to be close as witnessed by the lines as I was coming out at 11:30 PM. I have seen the concert 4 times . 1998 in Nashville and Memphis 2000, 2002 and 2007 and although I enjoyed the concert after a time or two the novelty kinda wears off and you are left not with the illusion Elvis is there but the reality he is gone and it is kinda sad. You also know that his concerts would be entirely different now.

I went to the 8pm show and thought it was thew best show ever! I then fell down to earth and realised that I would be seeing another show again. i also was aware that the audience seemed to have halved but I think that the reason was down to the event start time. i think that midnight is really not the ideal time to see a video in downtown Memphis, especially for the locals. I however did!

I mean no disrespect to those who have enjoyed these shows, but are these shows done the same way featured on the dvd Elvis lives? just want to confirm that, because i dont get the thing of watching a screen and then having the performers sing live, to me it's just sad and i dont know how anyone could feel hes on stage with them!

I saw the concert in Sweden, twice, when it was called "Elvis: The Concert". (Don't remember the year). thought it was amazing, and it was not like watching a video. Of course, us fans can always recognize the performances and we know what Elvis is gonna say at all times, because we have seen it a hundred times before. But it is(was) nevertheless the closest we could get to a live performance with Elvis, and it is(was) not far from what you would experiense from attending a concert with any living artist today. If you sit way back in the audience, all you see is the big screens that are used in almost all shows nowadays.

Yes, the "Elvis Lives" DVD is a recording of one of the "Elvis The Concert" performances. It is hard to explain how good these shows were to another fan, they were sensational, but you had to be there to experience their greatness. I attended all of the performances in London. It would be sad if there were no more of them.

As i said on another site i've seen the concert four times it is a shame to think that the concert last week was the last. But i mean no direspect to the musicians and singers but they are not getting any younger. So it has to be hard taveling all over the world plus they have other commitments .I think it's better to end it on high note.Who knows what is round the corner.

I went to both shows last week, the Midnight show was brilliant, really enjoyed it. he 'big' show was good but not as good as in '02....Met James Burton the next night who confirmed that Graceland no longer wanted to back the show. The most disturbing news I have heard from a friend of mine from the inside is that Lisa Marie is in talks with Sillerman to take over the entire estate in Feb 2008, this of course would include the mansion and everything in it....? Took the mansion tour yesterday, house looking great, new couch in the living room though and it is the first time (of many) that I have taken the tour in which the curtians were fully open in both the living and dining rooms.....

I am very proud to say that I was in Memphis in 1997, 2002 and 2007 to see Elvis The Concert in The Midsouth Coleseum, The Pyramid and The Fedex Forum !

Its a huge mistake to end "Elvis-The Concert". There are so many fans, who have yet, to see this amazing Concert production. EPE should Tour the show, for the rest of 2007 and explain the concept, of the show, better in their promotions. If not a 2007 fall-winter tour, then keep the show, in 3 main arenas once a year Memphis, Las Vegas, and Alantic city, (Memphis in August), (Alantic city in January), (Las Vegas in July). Slowly bring in new musicians and singers whom can keep the show going when the original lineup eventually retires.
