Quite a nice list, the only real surprise on it is Welcome To My World. I had no idea this was such a favourite for people?? Also the live version of Burning LOve over the studio classic, really???? Great to see lesser known gems like Peace in the valley and Blue Hawaii on there too. I wonder why they chose to include two versions of Suspicious Minds though, surely they should just have gone for whichever version got the most votes. Surprising omissions for me would be Are You Lonesome Tonight, It Hurts me and It's Now Or Never (my personal fave). Oh and That's alright Mama!!! Hope the album does well but I'm not sure who, apart from completists, would buy it. Not enough of the better known hits for the casual fan and those of us in the hardcore have surely no need of it.

I always have my doubts about these lists. Who is checking this? Welcome to my world as a favourite Elvissong???? strange!
Loesje wrote on June 16, 2012
Really Rob? Strange? Welcome to my world is the opening tune on my pc ;)
Rob Wanders wrote on June 16, 2012
hi Loesje, yes its a fine tune with nice optimistic lyrics, but he could have done a much better job on this song. So one of his 21 best???
Henryk wrote on June 16, 2012
Rob, not 'best' but 'favorite' which are two very different things.

If you want to buy the poster, you might just want to check out the cost of the postage to the UK on this item from the US. Have a look... & be prepared not to be impressed....!
EJF wrote on June 16, 2012
I Am Buffalo-Horn, I had already tried to order it myself, long before I saw your post. I was left speechless as to the high postage rate to send to Malta (Europe), almost twice the cost of the actual item! No thanks EPE.

As to the list above, I can't but feel dismayed at the poor taste most Elvis fans have in his music. Not to include at least one SUN track as your favourite is beyond me. I would have included all 5 SUN singles as opposed to 75% of the choices above. Blue Hawaii??!! Ugh!

It's not a bad setlist considering the limitations. Fans couldn't vote on all 711 masters but could only choose from a limited number of songs in a limited number of categories. Although I would have liked to have seen the ability to vote on all 711 songs, I nevertheless like this concept of a fan driven album. I uploaded my photo to be a part of the mosaic and have preordered to have my name inside the special edition of the CD. Not bad for $15 US. I'd love to have some of my favorites on it - such as We Can Make the Morning. Now that's a fantastic song. But I have it on other CDs. So it's all good. TCB!

I'm taking a pass on this release. I've pre-orderd the Aussie release "Elvis By Request." It's a 2cd version with 40 tracks. Fans there are allowed to vote on all the master tracks, not a pre-selected list. Voting is still going on. It will be interesting to see how their Top 40 turns out.
ttwiise wrote on June 17, 2012
the problem with the track list is in the way you could vote. The songs were pree-picked and you had to vote for one in each category so songs that you are surprised to find not included were probably not available to vote on in the first place. Unfortunately the people at EPE don't know enough about Elvis to include the lesser known tracks

don't (missing also) forget only the hits would sell. Not what the fans really want. I miss tracks from Elvis in memphis, Elvis is back, elvis country (1971). TTWII, and many more.

Another pointless compilation to join the many many others we've had. It's the same old same old. As for first fan ever fan chosen album, wasn't Elvis in demand picked by British fan club members in 1977? At least that had something a little different like do not disturb and got a lot of living to do. This is just another greatest hits package that will get lost amongst the countless of others available.

Pretty good song listing and certainly not greatest hits compilation as some suggested. Love the ending with Peace in the Valley, How great thou art and If I can dream. Also songs like Welcome to my world and Kentucky rain are not as well known as die-hard fans may think. The real surprises for me are that there is not one SUN recording included, not Baby let's play house neither Mystery train. Of course the Memphis recording sessions from 69 are well represented, but oh my not one recording from the Elvis is back! sessions. How is that possible? Think about great recordings like Reconsider baby, Are you lonesome tonight, A mess of blues, It's now or never....

I liked the concept, when I first heard about it, the fans selecting their favorite Elvis songs. but I soon discovered that the fans, could only choose a few songs from pre-selected catergories. Not all of Elvis' songs were represented. For example we could vote for the "live version" of "Burning Love", but we couldn't vote for the studio version, because it wasn't listed, in the song catergories, to choose from. The proper way to have done this, was to let, the fans pick 21 to 25 of their favorite Elvis songs, of all time, and the songs with the most votes, be put on the CD.

Currently the order price of the album on Amazon(UK) is £22.58. Either this is a mistake or SONY are going to be in for a major chart failure.
Steve V wrote on June 18, 2012
It will be a chart failure. How can there be interest in the same old, same old. These songs can not lure anyone into buying this release. It may have been a good marketing idea, but the execution of it was all wrong. If the price of this is what you say it is, forget it.

Lame, another silly compilation, nothing has changed. No on tour set but who cares we get a cd of songs picked by fans. Elvis releases are endless, way to milk that cow. Why would anyone who has these songs buy this junk? Edit button please!
Troubleman wrote on June 18, 2012
I also like the concept for this CD but I have to agree with GEORGE (GK) on the song selections. The fans could have written their top 20 (or 10) songs and a true top 20 list could have been made. Missing on this list are Good luck charm, Promised land, Polk Salad Annie and Steamroller blues. I also like the 69 songs Power of my love and Wearin' that loved on look. TCB

I contacted SONY(UK) and they state that the Amazon price of £22.58 is a mistake. It's amazing how it is the fans who always have to point out such things to them.
dgirl wrote on June 19, 2012
Whatever the price, who needs another useless compilation with the same old same old?

Yep, my opinion too ! Always El.

Tcb1974 - go to song of the day. Select k for Kentucky rain. Scroll to bottom of page clicking on where to find Kentucky rain on cd. It may surprise you how widely available this track has been over recent years.

Why would even diehard Elvis fans purchase this? Are they the original studio recordings again? I have an album called Elvis in Demand that was released in 1977 to coincide with the 25th Anniversary of the British Fan Club. The tracks were chosen by the British Fan Club members and truly reflect what an album such as the current one should be all about. Tracks were: 1. Suspicion 2. Hi Heel Sneakers 3. Got A Lot O' Livin' To do 4. Have I Told You Lately That I Love You ? 5. Please Don't Drag That String Around 6. It's Only Love 7. The Sound Of Your Cry 8. Viva Las Vegas 9. Do Not Disturb 10. Tomorrow Is A Long Time 11. Long Lonely Highway 12. Puppet On A String 13. The First Time I Ever Saw Your Facce 14. Summer Kisses Winter Tears 15. It Hurts Me 16. Let It Be Me Have a search for this album as it is a true gem.

If this album does not enter the UK Top 10 Albums Chart (which I suspect) then it will be a great shame as if it did it would mark Elvis' 50th UK Top 10 Album - a feat which no other artist or group can claim.
TCB1974 wrote on June 21, 2012
Point taken on Kentucky Rain, John. Still I'm quite positive about this concept and release. This is Elvis style product, just like the Roustabout album in the mid-60's with the great LP sleeve that brought in another #1 spot, or was it the great music that triggered the massive sales at the time? What I try to say is that concept albums and collections like this are part of the Elvis legacy and success story. The 2LP Elvis Forever was pointless for the die-hard fans at the time, but it also brought new fans, like me. Since then, I have collected something like 50 DVD's, 400 CD's and 30 books, but more important it enriched my (music) life!

It's very hard to market an artist who has been gone 35 years, basically impossible to keep the same old songs fresh & interesting. This wasn't a bad idea but was not done properly. It should have been open to his whole catalog, but like someone mentioned this is even a recyle of an idea from 1977, Elvis In Demand. As mush as I dread the idea of a duets album, it could be the way for renewed interest. No old artist sells like today's young artists, so if they do it right, who knows. Let's stay away from Beiber & Rap music(?) however.
