This is again misleading information. These are NOT sales figures. They are certified shipment figures. For some artists, a small number, from certain record labels, this amounts to practically the same thing. For the likes of Elvis, and hundreds of other artists, it does not even come close. For example, look at where Cliff Richard is on the list. Look odd?? Have you also noticed that everyone on that list are "western". I know for example that 40 greatest hits, one of the best selling albums in Ireland ever, does not show up as certified, while much lesser albums do. Did you know that Bing Crosby is certified for the grand total of 2.5 million albums in the US?? I would point out to everyone reading this is that this is albums only. It does not include singles. There are 2 major players for singles sales, Elvis and Bing Crosby. Noone else comes close. The bottom line is that these figures are bogus. In the IFPI, the I's do not stand for Information Integrity.

obviously another accidental or intentional poll that is wrong in every since. Elvis Presley's total album and singles sales worldwide is over 1 billion and everyone knows that. people like this don't want to recognize that their are facts that make Elvis the King, and with one billion sales and couting, he is the greatest singer of all time.

Nana Mouskouri...thát much!? And what about ABBA..I always thought they sold a few too. It is about time they stop 'estimating' and start 'counting'. (I'm Counting On You)

I really do not understand this estimate. What about Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra or Abba. With all respect to Cliff Richard or Nana Mouskouri I don't think they sold more than the Crosby, Sinatra or Abba

I just wonder why do people consider their duty to make such stupid lists. KLM was so right sayng where is Sinatra? I'll just add who the hell is Cliff Richard. Trust me outside UK and some part of USA REALLY few people know who the guy is. That's bull sh*t

This is the most absurd statistic ever. What a load of bullcrap. Nana Mouskouri? They got to be joking. Where are Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra?? In 1985 Elvis was reported to have sold over 1 BILLION records. Now after 20 years, the figure should be over 2 BILLION.

This is the problem with IFPI. It´s not an "international body", why they´re forced to estimate sales roughly all the time. Inaccurate counting is due to the fact that they only have files from 1980 and forward.! The fact that ABBA is not on this list show how it lacks in credibility, having in mind that ABBA are considerd to be the 3´rd best selling act in the world after Elvis and The Beatles, with sales Between 350-500 million records. Also Julio Iglesias are considered to be a top 5 seller.
