Ed Hill Is Recovering

March 16, 2005 | People
On several sites and newsgroups there were rumors that Ed Hill had passed away. Fortunately this is only a rumor.

This is from his Stamps partner Ed Enoch:

I don't know how this terrible rumor about Ed Hill passing away got started - but Ed Hill is at home resting and doing very well. He had a stroke on March 4, 2005 and was released from the hospital on March 7th.

The doctors told his family that Ed Hill has lost his short-term memory. They said he may eventually get it back - but it may take 3 months - 6-months or even a year or perhaps never. It just takes time to recuperate.

He is doing well and anyone that wants to send Get Well wishes may send them to:

Ed Hill
P.O. Box 1471
Brentwood, Tn. 37024

Thanks for your concern - Ed Hill's family will appreciate your prayers.

I am glad to hear that Ed Hill is home and recovering from his recent stroke. I was fortunate enough to meet Ed with JD and the Stamps in Hopkinsville, KY about 9 or 10 years ago. They were performing in a small community centre, I think it was, with Jake Hess. It was a great show and they were super nice guys. I was just a teenager and I was so in awe of them because they knew Elvis! I remember shaking JD Sumner's hand (and it was a big hand cause he was a tall guy) and thinking, oh my God, he has touched Elvis with this hand! silly teenage stuff I guess! I was shaking and a nervous wreck! But I got all of the group's autographs and I remember Ed Hill was always smiling, he is a very nice man. I will send a card on to him in TN. I now live in the UK, but I am still a country girl from KY who grew up listening to Elvis and gospel music. I wish Ed all the best.
