DVDs Withdrawn From Sale

June 26, 2004 | Video
Due to the fault on "Aloha From Hawaii" the title is being withdrawn across Europe and in other PAL zones. The corrected product will be available on July 12th, which will be the new official release date in the UK and Ireland. The UK promotion for "Aloha" and the "68 Special" will be delayed for a week, with BMG concentrating their promotional energies on the CD releases set for 5th July.

Well I am also among the "early purchasers" not in the Netherlands - will BMG do right by us also ? Another interesting discovery for me is that there is a weird sound distortion like a "jamming" twice, lasting a 3 or 4 seconds each time during the "Original Aloha show" introductions when listening on a ONLY CORDLESS headphones.(PAL edition)

Does this correction only count for the Aloha, or for the "It Hurts Me" scene in the '68 Comeback as well??

I've congratulated EPE on the wonderful DVD releases and asked them if they're going to correct the '68 "It Hurts Me" and Aloha "Intro" mistakes. At that time Todd Morgan said they have not yet discussed it. It may be possible in future. I've replied that the fans in SA opted to cancel their pre-orders and wait for the corrected ones. EPE & BMG are human, we know, but so are we. We expect to only buy the best with our long-saved, hard-earned money. There are so much Elvis product out there, especially for a new fan, to start collecting. One usually starts with the top quality official releases and then you want your money's worth. Stubborn lot, us. :)

Those concerned with the release of these outstanding DVDs deserve a major pat on the back for taking the decision to delay the release date. Its a brave decision and surely a sign of how seriously they take delivering quality products and guarding Elvis' legacy.

Welcome back, glad the server problems are fixed!! BMG are really to be congratulated on their decision to put things right on the Aloha fault – this will not be cheap for them! As regards "It Hurts Me" that would mean a complete re-edit. Really they ought to do it as it's a bad omission, but I can't see that happening now as it would really delay the release. They ought really to be brave, release the DVD on time, do the re-edit & then replace all the DVDs. It's tempting not to buy the DVD & wait to see what they do; but like most fans I want to have the DVD now! All we can really do is hope "It Hurts Me' is reinstated soon!!

If you follow the current news link to the Graceland site re Wordlwide release schedule for the 2 new DVDs you will find the page has been "pulled"! Thinking more about "It Hurts Me', as the set is being advertised as containing 'totally everything' from the NBC Special, technically that is currently not accurate! If as well as the original 50 minute version they had included the longer & better recut version, (The last DVD release) which contains the edit of the missing song, then this problem would not have arisen! We'll have to see what happens next!

Well it's good that they're correcting the Aloha dvd, but as for the omission of "it hurts me"- that is nothing short of scandalous. What kind of muppet edited this set? the bottom line is: this release is incomplete. It's the same old story, how many times have we had the "uncut" label placed on Elvis product only to find that it is nothing of the sort? Yet again idiots like myself will buy it again when the powers that be pull their fingers out of their noses (I'm trying to be polite) and decide to actually include what is, arguably, one of the best tracks of the show. I cannot believe such an important release contains such a glaring, obvious mistake as this. I mean, who edited this? Who approved the final print? Stevie Wonder? When EMI put together the "Beatles Anthology" they didn't leave out "Hey Jude" did they? Yet again we the fans have been sold short. It's always the same isn't it? you get all excited about a new release then, somehow, someone always manages to balls it up. Tip for BMG/EPE - Next time you decide to produce a set such as this, give the master tapes to the bootleggers, at least the job will be done properly.

With regards to the overseas DVDs being withdrawn due to an error, what about the DVDs in the USA which contain errors?
Brando wrote on June 26, 2004
When do we Elvis fan´s learn that every single time when EPE and BMG try to do someting they somehow manage dissapoint us. Advertisement is worth of nothing after this kind of failures.

The rate at which BMG needs to supply their costumers with replacement discs for faulty products, their going to be bankrupt before too long. The 68 comeback would have been perfect to arouse interest in Elvis with the public, particularly if it had been well promoted that the entire production number would be on it. How can any company interested in making a profit allow itself to make such blunders? Somebody is not taking care of business!!!!

Thats really good news that they are going to correct the error on Aloha. I dont mind waiting an extra week as long as they get this error sorted out.

I live in the Netherlands and I already have the Aloha and '68 Comeback with the errors in it. Does anybody know if we in the Netherlands can trade it for the new correct versions? I think it's normal BMG that we can trade them!
