Details - Another Saturday Night

March 29, 2012 | Music

If one place is to be picked as the most important in the career of Elvis Presley, it is without doubt Shreveport in the northwest part of Louisiana. The exposure that Elvis got through the radio broadcast of The Louisiana Hayride in 1954-56 was one of the key factors of establishing the early part of his career. With the exception of Las Vegas, there is no place where Elvis played more shows, and his return to the city in 1975 was like a homecoming to both Elvis and the many fans he had there since he started out. We have chosen to release the soundboard from the evening show of June 7 – definitely a show that Elvis and the audience truly enjoy, and with a great set list featuring old and new favourites. The CD comes in a 5” digipack with an eight-page booklet featuring photos from the June 1975 tour.

Hi Everyone, I am new in this Forum. Cisco - that's what I called good news. So I am really sure, that we will have the good stuff in the future. I really liked the SliverBox-Recording from this 75 - Show. 1975 is one of my personal favourites (the live-Audiences). So I am really looking foreward to other "Big ones"... Thanks, Cisco!

This I wrote on FECC I just got my copy from Ernst. What shall I say ? I am satisfied with what we have done. It was not easy to get photos from the actual show but Ernst did his very best.. So booklet features shots from Shreveport and some other shows from this time. We have a detailed track listing and recording information on page 2. The show itself is okay with typical song line-up from these days. Elvis is in a good and joking mood..he really enjoys being back in Shreveport. He doesn`t take Why Me Lord too serious but How Great Thou Art gets a great reprise. A fantastic rendition of this song...wow ! i also think the more the shows continues the better our man becomes...he really enjoyed the time on stage....Trilogy must have been the highlight of the show..."we got people hanging from the rafters JD, see it"..? While Funny How Time..he takes a little rest..Trilogy surely was very stressful....Little Darlin is just fun....a strong medley of Mystery Train / Tiger Man leads to the end of the show and Can`t Help falling In Love.. The bonus songs are nice additions and belong to the most interesting songs of this tour. Therefore they are included. I do hope you like this first work between FTD and the fanbase. I am already looking forward to our next project. Stay tuned.

Looking forward to this one, though I do sympathise with the knockers. Apart from the 3 bonus tracks its identical to the 1980 'EAP Silver Box' so not the most appealing outting so we can only hope it's a strong show. I was a bit disappointed with 'Dixieland Delight' with a very weak matinee show from May 31st and with only an acceptable evening show from June 1st. Let's hope that the material from the EAP box will be a good indicator of 'Saturday Night'. Appearances aren't everything but it's a pity about the cut-n-paste hotch-potch effort combined with MSG '72 design for the cover. It deprives the product of it's uniqueness.

Dazman is right, this CD hearkens back to the Silver Box concert. I did enjoy that show quite a bit, even though it was a conglomerate of shows from the '75 Summer tours. If you can use the prior shows as a point of reference, Elvis was happy and in very good voice at the time, so this show is promising. I may buy this one, but I want to read a few reviews before I do so. FTD has an uncanny ability to jack-up the material. There are too many prior disappointments for me to trust they'll do a good job now.

i will buy this one probably. i like the 75 shows a lot! he was in good spirit.

The show is really strong..I was lucky enough to already having listened to it....Ernst Joergensen and me decided to join forces a bit..I can choose shows which fit for release..great thing that the fanbase is now a bit involved..and be assured..I know what to pick..;-)....in this case our hero was back there where he started out..first time since 1956..can this show be bad..with his southern audience adoring him..?

Cisco: Could you please de-mystify the last 4 tracks from June 7? Keith Flynn and the liner notes from the 'Live In Dallas' LP 'believes they're from the matinee nut there's been conjecture that they're from the upcoming evening show. The liner notes from the 4CD set and EJ's book indicate neither - cheers!

The tracks in question on EAP are from Dallas. ..nothing is from Shreveport..

Cisco - without trying to ask too much about this new venture, I am a tab bit curious. Has Ernst given you an inventory sheet of what he has at his disposal for release and asked your opinion on the quality of the shows on the list or does he send you sample shows from which you can decide on a release ? Either way, I'm thrilled that he has reached out and brought you aboard. I just hope this board doesn't turn into Cisco bashing with quotes like 'damn Cisco that one's been available on an import for years' or things like that. I just want you to know that I'm excited about what this partnership could mean for the future of FTDs soundboard releases. I hope that "Another Saturday Night" is your first of many successes.

Well done Cisco - I look forward to your input!
Ciscoking wrote on March 31, 2012
Orion..I have a list with what is in the vaults. And I have my records with ALL shows that are available on any format.. I just have to compare and I can choose shows which have never seen the light of day in any form. For collectors a dream come true. I get samples of the shows in questions and Ernst and I decide which one we release. I also make proposals for cover design or cd title and also make proof reading. Erenst and I want a perfect product for the fans.I do hope you support this idea.
Natha wrote on March 31, 2012
CiscoKing, I was just kidding. And I fully support your idea. Now I really look forward to the next releases of FTD again.
Ciscoking wrote on March 31, 2012
We have some good things in the can..yep..please support the idea..
Ton Bruins wrote on March 31, 2012
Title says it all..."Another Saturday Night"....better would be "Just Another Saturday Night"...I have so many June 1975 shows now..enough for me..nothing new..No July 1975 on soundboard ? That would be better...
Ciscoking wrote on March 31, 2012
It`s not "just another 1975 show".....it is Shreveport...where it all began..;-)
TCB1974 wrote on March 31, 2012
Very much looking forward to this CD. I think the Southern concerts in 74/75 were simply great and the audience contributed to fantastic atmosphere. I'm eager for getting on tour concerts from 73, but it seems no soundboards are existing of the tours from this year, only from Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas. Also any concerts in good quality from 71 would be most welcome, as still somewhat of a rarity and love the early versions of The Impossible Dream and How Great Thou Art. The only thing that I'm really not interested in are concerts from March 76 - September 76. Elvis was in poor shape during these months in general.

Cisco - Thanks for answering my question in more detail than I woul've dared imagine. You've made me a believer. I'm sure there are some excellent things to look forward to, and I'm grateful that you're aboard for the ride. You have my full support.

What a master stroke by EJ to have a bootleg junkie like Cisco King on board FTD's selection panel. Prior to 2012 FTD's soundboard releases have been on the whole have been good, bad and indifferent both technically or artistically. But with very little spark. But in all fairness to Ernst, SB's outnumber the live multi-tracks in the vaults by about 4:1, so I think he just couldn't spare the time to sift and sort through and listen to every show to determine a value for money release. So since Cisco knows Elvis bootlegs inside out, he should be a good judge on a given Elvis performance. My humble advice to Cisco would be to occasionally re-release the popular boots with an unreleased show (like Nevada Nights) as doubles among the single 5" releases, if financially possible. I wish you well in your promotion.
