Cover Art CBS Television Special Soundtrack

May 03, 2005 | Music
This is the proposed cover art for the soundtrack album from the CBS TV movie "ELVIS", the track listing is not yet available.

We checked with EPE and according to Todd Morgan "there is not going to be a CD release of the soundtrack of the "Elvis" mini-series. If there were, then we would all know about it and it would be highly publicized and promoted. When this came up yesterday, I checked with BMG to be sure something had not unexpectedly changed. There has not been a change. There is no CD."

BMG is not doing an "Elvis" mini-series soundtrack release. That artwork is a copy of one of the CBS print ads for the airing of the mini-series.

What a misrepresentation of Elvis. His body is right but the turnip is wrong. You could pick this guy out in any i.d parade as being an Elvis lookalike and not that good. Lol.

Maybe he can portrait Elvis as a person, maybe he CAN act, but from the clips i saw, where he does a performance. I thought it was Hound Dog with the gold lamé suit, HE CAN"T MOVE. Never saw such spasmatic moves in one performance, They better shoot HIM from the waist up! Those moves, you have m or you don't, and if you don't, then don't do it! My opinion!

This series is clearly not made for the Elvis fandom, but for the general public. Bearing that in mind, there will probably be nothing wrong with the performance. You have to accept these things for what they are. In a similar vein, I went to see the Rat Pack show in the West End a couple of years ago and similar things occured. The general audience lapped it up and it was all done as great entertainment - but as someone who "knew my stuff" I knew there were things being said that weren't said in the Rat Pack stage shows - and songs that were sung that wouldn't have been. It's typical of these kinds of things and, to be fair, although it niggles a little bit that the extra care and attention wasn't made, you have to live with these things. The guy isn't Elvis - he's just playing a part. Its the same as Kevin Spacey playing Bobby Darin. He was just playing the part, even though it was a far from perfect film, it was entertaining and brought Darin's name back into the spotlight again. The same will probably happen with Presley and this movie

Weren't Don Johnson and Kurt Russell bad enough? From the available clips on the CBS site, this is clearly, without doubt, one of the worst of the worst productions about EP. And how many times can this story be told?!? It's another unflattering portrayal of EP and not one true fan of his should support the movie. If everyone is so concerned about garnering a new and larger audience of fans for EP, this dumb, dark movie is NOT the way to go about it.
