Copyright King

December 04, 2004 | People
Scotland's Daily Record Newspaper did an artivle with the title "Which One is King? The Answer is Patently Obvious!" The article, in relation to copyrighting names and titles, mentions an apparent dispute between Graceland and The King of Greece, over the title "The King."

Elvis Presley's Estate vs Greek Royal FamilyThe Presley estate has been involved in a long-running dispute with the Greek Royal Family over the use of the phrase The King, with Greeks refusing to recognise Elvis while King Constantine is still the monarch.

They were also defeated in a trademark legal case when an English shop, Elvisly Yours, was allowed to keep its name despite protests from the Presleys.

Elvis is "The King". Even at an event in Memphis, people from other countries where there system is one of Monarchy' were saying, "they don't do this for our king". That's because Elvis wasn't born into it, he earned it. Elvis is the only real King, on earth, I should say...

Now what about the new little richard box set: "The King Of Rock and Roll" doesn't graceland have a copyright on that phrase?

I think Graceland probably has a copyright on that, but considering Little Richard will only sell about 300 to 500 copies of his set, nobody really cares what he thinks, except him, of coarse. He's the only one in the world that considers himself that important.

Didn't Little Richard once throw all his jewelry into the sea, turn his back on Rock n Roll and say he was devoting his life to God? Hmmm. How times change.

elvis is the king. and he will forever be the king. he is the king of america. he earned it from his very poor begining and his genorosity towards the poor who he felt he left behind when he got rich. as for little richard i do not repect that guy one bit he is rascist and he hates elvis. if it werent for elvis doing tutti fruiti or long tall sally little richard would never have been heard of by the rest of america. little richard should shut up and and be thankful for elvis. little richard aint the king of anything but hypocrissy.

Little Richard was on VH1 greatest icons recently and was full of praise referring to Elvis as the one and only King of Rock and Roll. From what I've read and seen Elvis didn't like to be referred to as the king he would point heavenly and say 'there is only one king'. So I don't see the point of arguing over the title.
