"ELVIS: '68 Comeback Special - Deluxe Edition DVD" is a three-disc set featuring all the material shot for Elvis Presley's 1968 television special, which is considered one of rock 'n' roll's greatest moments on television and one of the most magical and important moments of Elvis's career.

The original broadcast version of the special is included for historical context. The DVD set features the two complete jam session concerts and the two complete solo concerts - all with Elvis in black leather - that were shot as the resource for the heart of the original broadcast.

These four concerts have never been released in their entirety. Also included are all takes of the material shot for the original broadcast's two big production numbers and for the show's opening and closing segments. Over half of the seven hours of material on this set is previously unreleased. The material is presented with newly re-mastered sound and picture.

3 x DVD set, over 7 hours of material / Includes over 3 1/2 hours of previously unseen material / Original 1968 broadcast version of the special /Outtakes, false starts; alternate stagings of production numbers / If I Can Dream - Special music video combining white-suit finale w/ never-before-released black-leather performance footage / Huh-huh-huh promo recorded by NBC to promote the special / Incredible deluxe booklet with extensive historical text and never-before-seen photos and memorabilia / Critical essay by Greil Marcus / All material is uncut and uncensored / Sound and picture are newly remastered for optimum quality / Mastered in stereo and 5.1 / Total Running Time: 440 minutes

The most comprehensive presentation of the footage of this historic event, all with meticulously remastered sound and picture, more than half of its seven hours of content previously unreleased.

- The exciting new If I Can Dream music video created for this DVD set and its promotion. It is assembled from the traditional white-suit If I Can Dream show closer and Elvis’s never-before-released performances of the song at the end of his two black leather stand-up shows.

To illustrate further what EPE means by “comprehensive” – You know how the show closed with Elvis playing guitar standing in the big read ELVIS letters as the credits rolled? We even give you a version of that without the credits. And to further illustrate the point, you get all the ’68 material complete with the chatter and whatnot going on while sound is on before and after the camera is rolling and you see the “slates” marking each take. We trust you will like our definition of “comprehensive.” No trimming up or censoring out.

The original videotape material for this program has been digitally remastered and restored. The audio, originally recorded in mono, has been digitally remastered and rechanneled for Dolby Digital stereo and 5.1 surround.

Superb - can't wait! I have much of the stand up footage on 'import' video, but it's a poor quality picture. There are some great moments, notably a jam on Baby What You Want Me To Do. This is a release I've dreamed about for years. Top marks to all concerned for making it happen.

This is very cool. I havent been this excited about a new release since we were all waiting for the TTWII special edition. cant believe that was over three years ago. We still have lots to look forward too. we cant get everything at once or there will be nothing left new. I never expected or thought about a ALOHA re-edited version. this is going to be great! I never knew different camera angles existed. THANK GOODNESS these were never thrown away. how horrible that would have been. What does everyone think of an Elvis and Jim Carrey Movie with footage of Elvis brought to life with Technogie and Jim Carrey. we have the technogy or an animated Elvis movie. these are next.

well if no Elvis and Jim Carrey Movie. I pick Jim Carrey because he could make a movie like that work. I would love a Animation Movie with Elvis playing the lead. Kids would love it and they could use the best songs from his movies. But I am going Crazy waiting for these new Re-Edited DVDs.

I cant wait to hear the difference in the sound. Ive never really like the quality of the Mono recordings of the 68 show. All you hear is a wall of sounds and not separate sounds and Elvis sounded supreme in the 68 show. I think some were recorded in stereo but most in Mono. NOW we will have them in 5.1 SURROUND sound. How did they do this.??? This is exciting!! The aloha was recorded in MULTI Track so it shouldnt be a hard to make them surround and I think they used really high tech stuff for 1973 when they recorded it. it was possible one of the first multi tracks ever recorded but i could be wrong.

I too am eager to lay my hands on these fantastic DVDs. Finally we are getting EVERYTHING we all wished for! Well done EPE/BMG. The only complaint would be about the covers which I feel could have been better. But of course it's the inner content that really counts after all. On the other hand, I wish his films were treated the same way, including ALL available outtakes, goofs, deleted songs/scenes etc. I must say the 5 soon to be released films have beautiful covers so this is exactly the opposite of "Aloha" and "68 Comeback" releases!! Finally, when are we to see the release on DVDs of Elvis' historic 50's shows - Dorsey, Ed Sullivan, Milton Berle etc., treated the same way as these two?
