The Memphis' Commenrcial Appeal newspaper put a special website on-line for the 50th anniversary of rock and roll.

On this site you can find all the information on the man that put memphis on the map in stories, interviews with people who were there when it happened like the last men standing, Scotty Moore and the former girlfriend Dixie Locke. From the newspapers archive audio, video and pictures are presented, several are made available as wallpaper.

Alright, as the music geek I am I just gotta comment: Strictly speaking "rock'n'roll" as a genre has been dead for decades already - Even Elvis himself didnt record much that can be classified as rock'n'roll after mid 60s. But what Elvis did, not only with his use of vocal and arrangements but indeed also regarding performance and visual appearance, is STILL a reference in a lot of todays music. There are no other artist ever in the history of music thats got the amount of references you find in modern music, videos, stage performance and fashion. Thats what we celebrate. :) Peace.
